Marvie Keith made two free throws with four seconds left in overtime to help Times No. 3 Crete-Monee avoid an upset Saturday at the Crete-Monee Shoot-Out.
The Warriors beat Mount Carmel 70-68.
Crete (9-1) was down 10 points with just under three minutes left and mounted a comeback to force the overtime. Mount Carmel hit 14 3-pointers.
"We didn't play very well,' Crete coach Tom Cappel said. "I've been around long enough to know that good teams can win even when they do not play well."
Keith finished with 16 points, while Laquon Treadwell had a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Mark Conner had 17 points.
Tyler Williams hit a big 3 for the Warriors with 20 seconds left in regulation to tie the game.
Mount Carmel's Christian Searles led all scorers with 22 points, while Gabriel Grant had 21.
Bloom Twp 55 Hinsdale South 37: The Times No. 2 Blazing Trojans (7-2) jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the win at the Crete-Monee Shoot-Out.
Jared Johnson led the way with 14 points, while Nhyree Mitchell had 12 points. Johnny Griffin added 10.
Rich Central 71, Thornwood 47: The Thunderbirds fell to the Olympians at the Crete-Monee Shoot-Out.
St. Laurence 65, St. Francis de Sales 49: Cornelius McIntosh's 15 points, six rebounds and four assists led the Pioneers in the loss to the Vikings.
Raashod Fenner had 10 points and eight rebounds.
Sterling 68, Thornridge 61: Tevni Newman's 17 points and eight rebounds led the Falcons (1-10) in their loss to the Golden Warriors at the Chuck Dayton Holiday Tournament in DeKalb.
Victor Trout had 15 points and Xavier Robinson 12.
Sterling was led by Zach Rehmert's 25 points.
Girls Basketball
Marian Catholic 61, Bishop McNamara 34: Ashton Millender had 14 points and Teniya Page added 13 to lead The Times No. 1 Spartans (11-0, 4-0) to an East Suburban Catholic Conference win over the Fightin' Irish.
Megan Walsh had 10 points and three blocks. Melanie Ransom finished with eight points and four assists, while Kauai Bradley grabbed 11 rebounds.
