Led by Nick Fiene's first-place finish, the Illiana Christian boys cross country team won the Wheaton Academy Warrior Classic on Saturday.
Fiene ran 15:47.2, and the Vikings had 26 points. All five of Illiana's runners finished in the top 11. Austin Gibson was fifth (16:06.9), Nick Wondaal sixth (16:07), Colin DeYoung seventh (16:11.1) and Kevin Vroegh 11th (16:32.2). Tony Wondaal missed the meet due to an illness.
Patrick Savage Invitational: Marian Catholic's Camren Howard was 18th overall (15:48), as the Spartans were 18th in the Class 3A White Division (514 points).
Loyola Academy won with 59 points and St. Ignatius' Dan Santino was the overall winner in 15:16.
Girls cross country
Warrior Classic: Illiana Christian's Alexa Beezhold was second overall (19:10.1), helping the Vikings also place second as a team (58 points). Emma Pawlowski was sixth (20:02.6) and Alex Clausing ninth (20:09.2).
Host Wheaton Academy won the meet with 48 points and Gardner-South Wilmington's Daly Galloway was the overall winner in 18:45.2.
Patrick Savage Invitational: Marian Catholic finished 20th with 572 points.
Its top runner was Samantha Phillips (21:48). Loyola Academy was the team winner in the Class 3A White Division with 47 points. The Ramblers Kathryn House was the individual winner (17:47).
Tinley Park Invitational: Sydnee Van Beek has 35 kills, 12 blocks, seven aces and 15 digs, as Illiana Christian placed second at the tournament. Jamie Petrarca had 30 kills and 25 blocks; Mikinsey Pruim had 12 kills and 19 blocks; Kat Witting had three aces and 21 digs and Hannah Wegner had 85 assists and three aces.
Marian Catholic 1, Nazareth 0: Chris Taborn made six saves to record the shutout. Alec Guarino scored the game's only goal, assisted by Cody Rodas.
Manteno 3, Thornton Fractional 0: T.F. United was shut out in the Manteno Cup championship.
Ubran Prep Charter/Bronzeville 38, Washington 14: The Patriots (4-2, 2-2) struggled in the Windy City loss to the Lions (5-1, 4-0) at Eckersall Stadium.
