Homewood-Flossmoor's doubles team of Timara Maxwell and Sophia Osabuohien emerged as the doubles champions in the Vikings' own sectional, helping their team compile 33 points and win the team title.
T.F. South placed second with 18 points, Illiana Christian was third with 15 points, while Marian Catholic finished fourth with 14 points.
Marian Catholic's Gaby Rosales was the singles champion.
IHSA State Finals: After shooting a solid 74 in the first round of the Class A IHSA boys golf state finals, Beecher's Michael Barber encountered trouble in his second round and shot an 80 to finish tied for 11th (154).
Barber's round included just one birdie, seven bogeys and a tough double bogey on the 16th hole at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington.
Illiana Christian's Steven Massey shot an 86 in the second round of the Class AA state finals at Weibring Golf Club in Normal, finishing tied for 43rd.
IHSA State Finals: T.F. South's Maggie Sloan fired a 78 for a 155 total, finishing in a tie for 12th place overall in the Class AA event.
Sloan shot a 42 on the front, but she rebounded with two birdies and a much-stronger 36 on the back.
Bloom Township 21, Rich East 0: Justus Brantley had 10 carries for 76 yards and a touchdown, while Justin Benavides rushed nine times for 67 yards and a score to lead the Blazing Trojans (5-3, 3-2 Southland Athletic Conference) and making them playoff eligible.
Boys cross country
Metro Suburban Conference Meet: Illiana Christian ran away from the competition, finishing with 21 points and the team win.
Nick Fiene (15:41.2), Tony Wondaal (15:54.3), Colin DeYoung (16:04.2) and Nick Wondaal (16:14.2) finished second through fifth to lead the Vikings.
Kevin Vroegh was Illiana's fifth scorer, finishing in seventh (16:22) to cap a very strong meet.
Southland Athletic Conference Meet: Bloom Township's David Perez placed fourth (18:34.4) to lead the Blazing Trojans to the team win, as they finished with 27 points.
Isaiah Quinn (fifth, 18:46) and Darion Wiggs (sixth, 19:03) also finished strong for Bloom.
Crete-Monee's Bryce Stulka placed second in 17:47.1, while Tyler Bland was third in 18:15.1, helping the Warriors finish second with 30 points.
SouthWest Suburban Conference Red Division Meet: Thornwood's Matthew King (16:03) and Khalil Lightbourne (16:18) placed eighth and 11th, respectively, helping the Thunderbirds finish in fourth with 110 points.
Adam Johnson led Thornton, placing 23rd with a time of 17:06, while Thornridge's Jamal Spruiell was 39th (18:14).
Girls cross country
Metro Suburban Conference Meet: Illiana Christian placed third with 72 points behind the strength of a sixth-place finish from Alexa Beezhold (19:47).
Emma Pawlowski was 11th (20:02), while Alex Clausing finished 15th (20:44).
Southland Athletic Conference Meet: Chasity Powell won the race for Crete-Monee, finishing with a time of 21:18.5, but Bloom Township took the team win with 33 points.
Gina Narcisi finished second for Bloom in 21:53.3, while teammate Sullibet Ramirez was third (22:04.8).
Lincoln-Way Central Tournament: Marian Catholic finished in third place overall, collecting a 25-20, 25-18 win over Homewood-Flossmoor and a 18-25, 25-21, 25-15 victory over T.F. South.
Amber Clay compiled 36 kills in the tournament to lead the Spartans (17-16). Kendyl Todd added 25 kills and seven aces.
Mount Carmel 4, Carver 0: Danny Balog netted two goals to lead the Caravan to the shutout win.
Greg Pitts and Nikola Bosnjak each scored one goal to cap the scoring.
