Marian Catholic's No. 1 doubles team of Paul Lamb and Sam Roche surrendered only six games in their three matches Saturday, helping the host Spartans win the quad tourney.
Marian Catholic (5-2) defeated Shepard and Providence 5-0, plus it won 4-1 over Oak Lawn.
Lamb and Roche won 6-2, 6-1 against Providence. 6-1, 6-1 over Shepard and 6-0, 6-1 against Oak Lawn.
Also, Kevin Kwok won 6-1, 6-0 against Shepard at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0 against Oak Lawn at No. 2 singles plus he teamed with Chuck Helsel to win 7-6, 7-0 against Providence at No. 2 doubles.
Thornridge 10, T.F. North 1: Jarian Tucker scattered six hits and had 10 strikeouts in a complete-game win over the Meteors. Senior designated hitter Nomaan Faroouqui was 2-for-2 with a run scored, and junior shortstop Rashawn Morris was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI for Thornridge in its season-opener on Saturday.
Thornridge plays Homewood-Flossmoor on Thursday.
Thornwood 1, T.F. South 0: James Macklin had a triple and the game's lone RBI.
Mount Carmel 7, Fenwick 4: Goalie Collin Freeman had 25 saves to lead Mount Carmel (3-0), which plays host to Brother Rice on Monday.
Bradley-Bourbonnais 3, Crete-Monee 0: Lydia Cogan made seven saves, but the Warriors lost their season opener. The game was halted after 16 minutes were played in the second half due to unsafe conditions.
St. Joseph, Mo. 16, Marian Catholic 9: Celeste Friel tied a Spartans record for goals in a game with seven in the loss. Caitlin Henry and Carla Bennett each scored a goal.
Lafayette, Mo. 8, Marian Catholic 7: Friel led the Spartans (1-3) with five goals, but they still suffered the road loss. Henry and Bennett each added a goal.
