Five players scored to lead the Thornton Fractional boys soccer team past Cristo Rey Jesuit 5-2 Saturday morning in one quarterfinal of the Reavs/Windy City Classic.
Jeremy Celmer, Ray Kobus, Dan Stellfox, Jesus Alvarez and Alexis Gallegos each scored. Kobus and Alvarez had an assist each. Isreal Avila also added an assist, while Gabriel Gutierrez made seven saves.
Thornton Fractional (3-0) will play at 5 p.m. Tuesday in one semifinal.
Beecher 5, Rich Central 1: Jackson Strick had a goal and an assist to lead the Bobcats (3-0) to a rout of the Olympians.
Illinois Lutheran 2, Crete-Monee 2: The Chargers won on penalty kicks.
Fernando Aguirre and Victor Romo scored goals for the Warriors (3-1).
Washington 25, St. Francis de Sales 0: Dariel Whitehead had a monster game for Washington, as he caught five passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for a 2-yard TD.
Aaron Cruz was 10-of-18 passing for 162 yards, while Tory Fenderson carried the ball 11 times for 83 yards and a score.
Boys cross country
Normal West Invitational: Marian Catholic's Camren Howard was second in 16 minutes, 7 seconds as the Spartans were seventh with 285 points.
Plainfield South won with 50 points.
Marian's Nathan Holley was 36th (17:42).
Girls cross country
Normal West Invitational: Marian Catholic finished sixth with 307 points, and Minooka won with 28.
Marian's top runner was Sydney LaTurner, who was 55th (23:09).
