Beecher's Grant Nykaza took first place with a time of 14 minutes, 55 seconds and the defending state champs won the team title at the Class 1A Bishop McNamara Regional at Kankakee Community College on Saturday with 44 points.
The Bobcats to advance to the Lisle Sectional.
Teammate Mike Polzin was third (16:34), Aaron Borgman was fourth (16:37) as Beecher's top five runners finished no lower than 22nd.
In the girls race, Beecher's Larissa Swanson finished fifth overall (20:06) at Kankakee Community College and the Ladycats were second with 64 points to advance to the Lisle Sectional.
Bishop McNamara won the team title with 33 points.
Beecher's Theresa Hoge was 11th (20:56) and Jade Dooley was 13th (21:11) as the top five Ladycats finished in the top 20.
Girls Cross Country
Class 3A Andrew Sectional: The Homewood-Flossmoor, Marian Catholic and Thornton teams qualified for Saturday's Quincy Sectional.
Lincoln-Way Central was the winner with 44 points. H-F was fifth (105 points), Marian sixth (207) and Thornton seventh (212). The top seven teams advance and the top five runners on non-advancing teams also will go to Quincy.
MicKayla Jones led H-F as she was eighth (19:49). Marian's Jacqueline Silverman was 36th (21:23) and Thornton's Karina Perez was 30th (20:51).
Bloom Township's Gina Narcisi (20:21), Ericka Salamon (21:29) and Sullibet Ramirez (22:47) qualified as individuals as did T.F. South's Jessica Fierce (22:22) and Thornwood's Misty Rogers (22:55).
Class 2A Crete-Monee Regional: Host Crete-Monee placed fourth with 136 points and earn a team berth in the Normal West Sectional.
The top seven teams qualified for sectionals. Lincoln-Way West won with 29 points.
Crete-Monee's Teja Foy was seventh (21:27.7).
Boys Cross Country
Class 3A Andrew Regional: Three local teams and five individuals on non-qualifying teams advanced to next Saturday's Quincy Sectional.
Lincoln-Way East was the team champ at Turtlehead Lake Park with 51 points. Thornwood was third (80 points), Homewood-Flossmoor fifth (114) and T.F. South was seventh (155). Seven teams advanced from the regional.
T.F. South's Dylan Angell was fourth overall (16:17) and H-F's Cahon Cross was fifth (16:17).
Thornwood's Kenneth Allen was 11th (16:37) and Johnell Seanior and Wale Daramola were 15th (16:49) and 16th (16:49) respectively. H-F's Matt Anyiwo was sixth (16:19).
Bloom Township's Jacob Hernandez (16:47) and Joaquin Silva (17:11) qualified for sectionals as did Thornton's Christopher Perez (16:49), Quintin Bonner (17:28) and Robert Warnsley (17:48).
Class 2A Chicago University Regional: Led by Dan O'Keefe's eighth-place finish, Mount Carmel took second place at Washington Park with 72 points and will move on to the Fenton Sectional.
O'Keefe ran the course in 17:38. Colin Slager was 11th (17:54) and Nick Galapo was 13th (18:06).
Jones College Prep won the team title with 21 points and Kenwood's Yusef Hood was the individual winner (16:44).
Class 2A Crete-Monee Regional: Crete-Monee's Bryce Stluka (17:47) and Josh Millsap (19:06) advanced as individuals to the Normal West Sectional.
Football
Crete-Monee 20, Rich East 13: Kenneth Kidd ran for two touchdowns and Marcus Terrell hit LaQuon Treadwell for the other as The Times No. 1 Warriors (9-0, 5-0) held off the Rockets (6-3, 3-2) for the Southland Athletic Conference win.
Crete-Monee completed its first undefeated regular season since 1952. Richard Blievernicht, a member of the 1952 team, addressed the team before the game.
"It was kind of neat and you can see the kids hung on his every word," Crete-Monee coach Jerry Verde said. "He told us to keep winning and don't stop with 9-0."
The Warriors suffered two injuries as defensive backs Tracy Whitehead and Anthony Standifer went down with injuries. Verde said Standifer hurt his left shoulder in the first quarter and is out indefinitely.
Boys Soccer
Class 2A St. Rita Regional: Four different players scored as Washington beat host St. Rita 4-0 for the championship.
Erick Carrasco, Gabriel Martinez, Raphael Alarcon and Misael Martinez each scored.
Martinez had two saves and Jaime Prado had four saves for the Patriots (20-4-1).
Class 3A Homewood-Flossmoor Regional: Josue Leal and Giovanni Sanchez scored to give Eisenhower the title with a 2-0 win over the host Vikings.
