Times No. 1 Andrean took its first baseball loss of the year, 9-8 against North Central on Saturday in Indianapolis.
Nick Podkul went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
The 59ers (16-1) then beat Hamilton Southeastern 15-5 in Game 2, led by Donovan Chandler's four hits and three runs. Matt DeSomer had two doubles with four RBIs and two runs, while Podkul had two doubles among his three hits and three runs. Parker Huttel scored three runs and knocked in two, and Jimmy Skiff added three RBIs. Kevin McCune had two hits and two RBIs.
Crown Point 9, Indianapolis North Central 8: Brian Butchee had three hits for the Times No. 4 Bulldogs and scored a run in the win. Dale Wentz pitched five-plus innings to get the win.
Crown Point 12, Hamilton Southeastern 1: Tyler Downing went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored. Jake Jenks added two RBIs as did Jake Benich. Jon Dietrich struck out six in picking up the win.
Boone Grove 13, E.C. Central 3 (6 inn.): The Wolves were led by Buddy Boatwright, Dan Gholston, Darrell Maxey, Jeff Birchfield and Cameron Varlan, who had two RBIs each.
Lowell 4, Clark 1: Grant Weinmann struck out 12 and threw a complete game as the Red Devils (6-7) topped the Pioneers (7-6). Lowell's Myles Sidentopf was 2-for-3, and Justin Thomas had a double and two RBIs.
Clark's Dillon Slowiak doubled.
Hammond Academy 9, Gavit 4: Tyler Reid had two hits and two RBIs for Hammond Academy (8-4), and teammate Aaron Cook added two RBIs in the win. Brandon Swart went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored over the Gladiators (0-11). Xavier Reillo struck out four to pick up his first win.
Valparaiso 6-13, Warsaw 2-9: Michael Jindra went the distance in the first game, and Valparaiso rallied twice in the second game, winning in eight innings, to complete a doubleheader sweep.
The Vikings' Kyle Miller was 5-for-7 on the day. Sam Miller homered and drove in three runs in the opener, while Tyler Ellrich was 4-for-4 with four runs and three RBIs in the nightcap. Max Roberts and Jack Andrie each went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs, respectively.
South Central 11, Westville 9: J.T. Snyder got the win on the mound and also homered for the Satellites. Kyle Sturdy went 3-for-4 for South Central.
South Central 10, New Prairie 9: The Satellites (7-7) picked up their second win of the day as Max Sims and Charles Crawford each had two hits. Noah Eaton picked up the win.
Kokomo Relays: Crown Point won five events as it captured the 90th annual event with 118 points. Host Kokomo was second with 101 1/2.
The Bulldogs got individual wins from Eric Fiacable in the discus (146 feet, 4 inches), Troy Grady in 110-meter high hurdles (14.82) and Ryan Kepshire in the 1,000-yard run (2:29.12). The Bulldogs won the mid-distance and sprint medley relays.
Delphi Relays: Kankakee Valley took first with 145 points, besting Manchester (86) and Clinton Central (71). Jenna Jungels won the long jump and set a school and meet record in the 100 hurdles at 15:04. She was also a part of the Kougars' 800 relay, which also set a meet and school record at 1:48.36. She was joined by Joli Jungels, Gab Martin and Leanna Mulloy.
Lime City Relays: Merrillville's Jordan Stanley won the shot put (39-8 1/2) and was second in the discus (99-11) as the Pirates finished fifth out of nine teams at Huntington North High School.
The Pirates had 77 points. Fort Wayne Carroll won the meet with 100 1/2 points.
Merrillville's Alivia Ash took first in the high jump (5-3).
Gavit 12, Clark 2 (5 inn.): Shelby Geurts picked up the win, had a double and two RBIs. Amber Sanders added two hits, scored twice and had an RBI. Teammate Imani Bugg had two hits, scored twice with one RBI.
The Pioneers' Hailey Kelding had two hits.
Wheeler 11, South Central 0 (5 inn.): Nickole Finch struck out 11 in pitching a no-hitter. She also homered and went 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Angelise Vukin had two RBIs; Kadie Spoor scored twice, and Karessa Sweeney went 3-for-3. Gianna Hamady had two RBIs as did Haley Ruoff.
