After winning 30 consecutive regular-season boys basketball games, Times No. 4 Munster lost its second in a row, to state-ranked No. 10 Penn, 79-68, on Saturday.
Jordan Geist scored 25 for the Kingsmen (5-0) on Saturday.
Munster (4-2) was led by Drew Hackett's 18 points. Teammate Adam Ostoich chipped in 16.
Penn was 26-of-32 from the free-throw line and scored 27 fourth-quarter points.
Lake Central 87, Morton 41: The Times No. 2 Indians jumped out to a 38-13 lead after one quarter and cruised to a win over the Governors (1-4). L.C. (5-1) hit nine 3-pointers, four coming from Tyler Ross, who scored 18. Tyler Wideman scored 21 points on 10-of-11 shooting. Tye Wilburn had 10 assists. Cory Dickelman added 10.
Devon Mingo led Morton with 18 points.
Calumet 79, North Newton 21: Anthony Harris' 18 points led the Warriors (4-1, 3-1) to a lopsided Greater South Shore Conference win over the Spartans (1-5, 0-4).
Hammond Academy 98, South Bend Career Academy 41: A 36-point first quarter powered the well-balanced Hawks (1-5) to victory. Guard Ernest Bolden led the way with 31 points, including 5-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc. Kory Humphrey had 18, Philander White 16 and Brian Smith 12.
Bremen 60, South Central 58: The Lions (1-4) overcame a six-point deficit in the fourth quarter to edge the host Satellites. Mark Richards scored 17 points with five 3-pointers for S.C. (1-4). Collin Froedge added 12 points, all on 3s.
Washington Township 66, Westville 58: The host Senators (3-1, 1-1) got 17 points from Alex Lowther to earn a Porter County Conference win against the Blackhawks (2-3, 2-2). Bryce Pappas scored 12 and had 10 rebounds. Alex Perez scored 11, and Brandon Adkins had 10.
Westville was led by Shawn Gerron's 15 points.
Ft. Wayne Canterbury 81, West Side 69: Dana Evans scored 26 points, and Amari Ferguson added 10, but it wasn't enough for the Cougars (8-2).
Griffith 43, Munster 35: The Panthers outscored the Mustangs 12-1 in the fourth quarter for a Northwest Crossroads Conference win. Courtney Bell led Griffith (7-3, 1-2) with 19 points, and Lisette Roldan added 12.
Megan Zabrecky topped Munster (3-8, 0-3) with 11 points, while Natalie Vellutini and Madelyn Moore had 10 points each.
Hobart 45, Andrean 27: Grayce Roach scored 17 to lead the Brickies (7-2, 4-0) to an NCC win. Morgan Flaharty added 11 for Hobart. The 59ers (4-5, 2-1) had no one in double-figure scoring.
Lafayette Central Catholic 60, Rensselaer 35: The Bombers (4-5, 0-2) got 14 points from Aimee Mattocks, but Rensselaer lost its Hoosier Conference game to the Knights (6-2, 1-0).
Washington Township 63, Westville 23: Sammie Higgins poured in 21 points as the Senators rolled over the Blackhawks in the PCC. Maddy Johnson posted 12 points and seven rebounds for Washington (6-2, 4-1). Stephanie Popp scored 13 points for Westville (0-9, 0-5).
LaPorte 76, Elkhart Central 23: Taylor Thompson's 21 points led four Slicers in double figures in a rout of the Blue Blazers. Nicole Konieczny scored 19 for LaPorte (9-0), which got 14 from Kyleigh Kubik (four steals) and 10 from Jaclyn Heath (seven assists). Kelsey Gushrowski nabbed 10 boards. The Slicers made 13 3s.
Kouts 43, Hebron 41: Megan Heinold scored a layup at the buzzer on a pass from Jayla Crump to push the Fillies (6-3, 3-1) to the PCC victory. Heinold scored 15 points, while Crump tallied a dozen to go with nine rebounds. Madison Bell's 16 points for Hebron (4-6, 2-3) led all scorers. Katie Clemens posted 11 points and nine boards.
LaPorte Pairs: Chesterton's Brandi Tuzinski and Jordan Kearby teamed to finish first in floor exercise (9.5), balance beam (9.6) and all-around (36.4) to pace the Trojans to the title.
Chesterton scored 17 points, awarded based on the placement of the pairs, with Portage (13) second and Logansport (11) third.
Portage's Danielle Solis and Krystal Fitchett took vault (9.5) and were beam runners-up. Fellow Indians Delaney Barcelli and Madison Kurtz earned second on bars and floor.
Crown Point's Hannah Best and Natalie Groff placed second on vault and third all-around.
Munster Super Dual: New Prairie won the championship, going 5-0.
Among local schools, Chesterton and LaPorte posted 3-2 marks, while Munster and Griffith were 2-3. Hobart Super Dual: Goshen dominated with a 5-0 record, edging the host Brickies 31-30 to hand them their only loss.

Portage finished 4-1, losing only to Penn, while Valpo was 3-2. Portage's Gaige Torres (120) won all five of his matches, as did Valpo's Alex Kukurugya (220) and Ian Suttles (285).
