Alejandro Kinney blasted a two-run home run in the third inning to help give the Times No. 2 Andrean baseball team a 4-1 win over Penn on Saturday.
Jamie Johnson added a double, triple and two runs for the 59ers (5-0), who didn't allow a run until the sixth inning.
Matt DeSomer (2-0) picked up the win, giving up six hits and striking out seven in 5 1/3 innings.
Zack Ryan pitched two-thirds of an inning to earn the save while going 2-for-2 with a run.
Carmel 10-6, Lake Central 9-0: Times No. 1 Lake Central provided more than enough offense, as Ryan Burvan led the attack with three RBIs, but the Greyhounds were able to edge the Indians in Game 1. Alec Olund, Brenden Seren and Tony Schneider each drove in two runs in the first game.
The Greyhounds shut down the Indians in the second game. Nick Kellams led L.C. with two hits.
Kankakee Valley Invitational: Boone Grove overcame a rocky start to defeat Lake Station 19-9 in the five-inning championship. The Wolves (4-1) coughed up nine first-inning runs -- eight unearned -- but answered with 10 runs in the bottom of the frame.
Kyle Erickson (2-0) pitched 4 1/3 innings of hitless relief with eight strikeouts for the win. Caleb Narron, Caleb Grubb and Chuck Kidd each had two RBIs.
In a consolation game, K.V.'s Matt Berdine threw five innings and struck out five to help the host Kougars to a 9-1 win over Knox. Berdine also went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored twice.
Kouts 4-12, Victory Christian 0-6: Andrew Birky threw five shutout innings in the opener, while Seth Hershberger drove in and scored three runs in the second game as the Mustangs (3-0) recorded the sweep. Jake Moore went 5-for-6 with three RBIs and three runs, while Game 2 winner Jake Bekelya stole six bases and scored four runs.
Joey Vershay had three RBIs and scored three runs in the second game for Victory Christian (0-3).
South Bend Clay 7, Michigan City 6: Logan Kaletha doubled, homered and drove in four runs, but the Colonials scored in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the victory. Chris Hebb and Jay Hixon each singled twice for the Wolves. Tony Lemon scored twice for City.
Chesterton 13, West Side 9: The Trojans took advantage of 13 walks to outlast the Cougars. Tyler Sufana knocked in three runs, and Jordan Morandini scored three for Chesterton.
Lafayette Jefferson 10, Chesterton 0: The Trojans were limited to three singles in a five-inning loss to the Bronchos.
Morgan Township 15-4, Calumet 0-8: Joe Dougherty homered and tossed a five-inning no-hitter for the Cherokees. Ryan Klikus (two RBIs) and Adam Rettinger (three runs) and Austin Porter were all 2-for-3, and Jake Koselke went deep for Morgan (5-2).
The Warriors (1-3) were led by T.J. Thomas, who had a double, triple and home run with three RBIs and two runs scored. Marcus Jackson added a triple and a homer for the Warriors (1-3).
LaCrosse 8-3, Culver 7-17: Wylie Brown had two hits, and Zach Brown knocked in two runs as the Tigers held on to win the opener.
Bishop Noll 15, Whiteland 3: The Times No. 5 Warriors (2-2) had a big day with the sticks at South Bend's Coveleski Stadium. Anthony Fundunkian went 4-for-4 with three RBIs; Nick Trasher was 2-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored, and Chad Mateja scored twice. Angel Figueroa had two hits and two RBIs, and Larry Crisler got on base four times and scored three runs.
Hobart 9, Hebron 3: Hannah Wilson doubled three times and drove in five runs to power the Times No. 10 Brickies (4-3) past the Hawks (1-2). Dana Claussen allowed just two hits to claim the win.
Hanover Central 73, Highland 60: Alec Nirtaut won the long jump (19-9) and the 400 (53.66) to help the Wildcats edge the host Trojans.
Hanover Central 79, Highland 42: Kayla York won the discus (101-6) and shot put (36-3 1/2) to lead the Wildcats past the host Trojans.
