Shelby Riehle, Katerina Shuble, Rachel Gerick and Jenny Noll finished 2-3-4-6 to lead the LaPorte girls cross country team to the Open Division title at Saturday's Culver Academies Invitational.

The Slicers edged Fort Wayne Concordia 47-48 for team honors. Portage was fourth at 123, led by Lexie Cipich (13th).

In the Closed Division, Kouts' Holly Kuebler took 10th and Adelaide Young Brust of South Central was 12th. Madeline Kartz and Angela Gonzalez of Hanover Central finished 17th and 18th. Morgan Township was fourth as a team.

Boys cross country

Culver Academies Invitational:  Crown Point's Geno Christofanelli finished sixth in the Elite Division, where the Bulldogs were fifth among 18 teams.

In the Open Division, Michigan City's Loukas Karallas finished sixth and LaPorte's Mitchell Gits 14th. Kankakee Valley's Dean Schmidt and Trevor Conley were 15th and 18th, respectively.

LaPorte was fifth among 18 teams. Illiana Christian went 1-2 in the Closed Division with Austin Ohm winning in 16:17.4, followed by Derek Van Prooyen. Hanover Central's Kevin Paszko was fourth, Covenant Christian's Carson Bakker sixth, Washington Township's Sunjay Raman 17th, Kouts' Dakota Dick 18th, Marquette's Jake Tarnow 19th and Washington's Tyler Hachey 20th. Illiana Christian was second as a team with Kouts third and Washington Township sixth in the field of 33.

Girls volleyball

Michigan City 25-25-25, Highland 9-21-13: Kiley Voyatovich's 11 kills paced the Wolves (23-2) to the sweep. Alexa Sparks picked up 15 assists.

Michigan City 25-21-25-25, Munster 23-25-22-n/a: Hannah Noveroske popped 14 kills as the Wolves downed the Mustangs in four games. Allison Ruhe made 28 digs, Emily Kinney handed out 23 assists and Kylie Filipiak connected on eight kills for City.

Girls soccer

Portage 1, Kankakee Valley 1: Joanie Warmick scored for the Indians, while Karmen Nowak had the Kougars' goal in the draw.

Marquette Catholic 5, LaLumiere 0: Riley Lindsey and Nadia Flores combined on eight stops as the Blazers (12-3) blanked the Lakers. Stacey Barron posted a goal and two assists for Marquette.

Boys soccer

Marquette Catholic 2, Hanover Central 1: Robert Luscomb finished on a  feed from Will Cannon with 6:02 left to boost the Blazers (9-3-2) past the Wildcats.
