Portage freshman Kaylee Adams won the 113-pound title in the Indiana High School Girls Wrestling State Finals on Friday at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis.
Adams won her quarterfinal match by pin at 52 seconds before a 10-0 decision in the semifinals and 12-2 decision over West Vigo's Annalyse Dooley in the finals.
Hammond 86, Gavit 55: Times No. 4 Hammond (12-3, 4-0) made it rain Saturday in its Great Lakes Athletic Conference win as it connected for 17 3s.
Amiri Young had four 3s and had a game-high 24 points for the Wildcats. Montell Bates hit four 3s as well, scoring 16 points. TreSean Neal connected for a trio of triples, adding 11 points. Elijah Fuller also had 11 points.
Kevin Shelton led the Gladiators (3-11, 1-3) with 15 points. George Tucker III scored 12.
Bowman Academy 81, Fort Wayne Bishop Luers 45: Chinedu Okanu had a team-high 21 points in the Eagles' win.
Joseph Moore added 16, while Langston Stalling had 15.
Munster 75, Hobart 35: Nick Fies had 19 points, Tyler Zabrecky scored 15 and Jevon Morris added 13 as the Mustangs (12-3, 3-0) rolled to a Northwest Crossroads Conference romp. Morris nabbed nine boards and Zabrecky handed out six assists.
Covenant Christian 78, North White 45: Chris Beezhold's 15 points fueled the Knights (14-1) to the blowout. Gavin Herrema backed Beezhold with 13 points and Danny Bultema notched a dozen.
Andrean 63, Highland 51: The balanced 59ers (9-5, 2-0) put four players in double figures to secure the NCC victory. James Hudson and Nick Flesher each posted 13 points. John Carrothers (nine rebounds) followed with 11 and Kyle Ross 10. Isaac Sytsma led all scorers with 19 points for Highland (9-7, 0-3), which picked up 12 points from Tyler Brankin and 10 from Nick Thompson (eight rebounds).
LaPorte 76, S.B. Washington 57: Riley Ott and Nyla Asad shared the team-lead with 19 points as each added three steals in a win for the Times No. 4 Slicers (15-4).
Kayla Jones added 11 points and four assists for LaPorte. Janelle O'Neal nabbed a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Portage 59, Merrillville 40: Lexi Switzer and Kaitie Clasen matched 13-point nights as the Indians (13-9, 4-3) recorded their first winning season in the Duneland Athletic Conference since 2000.
