Morgan Twp. 49, Knox 40: Trevor Braden scored 17 and added five rebounds to lead the Cherokees to a season-opening win. Cody Maxwell added 12 points and Jeremy Landgrebe scored 10.
Washington Twp. 97, Hammond Academy 35: Collin Burton poured in 28 points as the Senators blasted the Hawks. Zach Little added 16 for Washington Twp. (2-0) and Brock Pappas had 14.
Andrean 74, Wheeler 42: Curtis Jones scored 15 to lead the 59ers (2-0).
Valparaiso 83, Hobart 52: Brandon Newman exploded for 31 points and 12 boards as the Vikings took care of the Brickies. Teammate Colin Walls added 12 points and dished out nine assists.
Lakeshore Classic: Emmanuel Calhoun had 13 points to lead West Side to a 53-44 win over Marquette Catholic.
Jalen Russell had 13 for the Blazers.
Hanover Central 67, Gavit 59: Amanda Schreiber posted 24 points and eight rebounds as Hanover Central picked up their first win of the season. Sarah Spangler had 14 points and four assists for the Wildcats (1-5). Madison Fanta added 11 and Brianne Kickert scored 10.
Westville 47, West Central 28: Morgna Shreves posted a double-double with 21 points and 14 boards in a victory for the Blackhawks (4-2). Nicole Albers knocked down a trio of 3-pointers on her way to 12 points. Sarah Weston added eight points and six assists.
Lake Central 48, Highland 33: Taiylour Kirkwood had 12 points to lead Lake Central. Taylor Jaksich had nine points on three 3s for the Indians (3-4).
Michaela Schmidt led the Trojans (2-4) and all scorers with 14.
Valparaiso 78, South Bend Clay 15: Ari Gerdt scored 14 points as Valparaiso rolled to a blowout win. Avery Hicks and Taelynn Oelling adding nine apiece for the Vikings (5-2).
Penn 92, Munster 91: Munster's Kyle Adams set the school record in the 100 breast with a time of 58.09, breaking the previous mark of 58.19 set by Jamie Lutkus in 2002. Adams added wins in the 50 free and swam legs of the first-place 200 medley and free relays.
Holden Raffin also swam a leg of the 200 medley relay, adding a pair of wins in the 100 back and 200 IM.
