On Saturday, Alexis Holloway became the second pitcher at Crown Point to verbally commit to a Division I college as a ninth grader.
Holloway visited Notre Dame over the weekend and gave her verbal commitment before leaving. She's been at CPHS for all of a week.
"Honestly, I still can't believe it," Holloway said. "People ask me why I'm not so excited and it's because I still can't believe it."
Miranda Elish verballed to Oregon last year before her freshman season. Now, Holloway has done the same thing.
For the hard-throwing right-hander with D-I movement and off-speed pitches, this is like hitting the lottery.
"It's the dream school for me," she said. "I've always wanted to go to Notre Dame."
Playing for the elite Beverly Bandits, Holloway said she's had a chance to talk to many highly-recruited players during the travel season. The advice she got was used on the family's trip to South Bend.
"They said you get that feeling when you're there that that's where you want to go and I got that there," Holloway said.
Northwestern was the other school she was interested in, another with high academic standards. She said right now she wants to study engineering or something else in science or math.
But, "I could change my mind 100 times before I get there," she joked.
