Kankakee Valley's Hillary Hoffman and Andrean's Kelly Ryan each played a part in a softball sweep Saturday at the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association's All-Star Classic.
Hoffman had an RBI single in a three-run first inning at Cherry Tree Complex in Carmel as the North won the opener, 3-1.
The nightcap with the South made its way into the eighth inning, bringing about the international tiebreaker.
Goshen's Natalie Newell was placed on second base to start the bottom of the inning. Then, Ryan reached first on a sacrifice-bunt attempt. Lafayette Central Catholic's Ashley Adams was intentionally walked to load the bases. Jimtown's Alicia Ward clinched the sweep with the North's lone hit of the game.
Other locals involved in the festivities included Munster's Angelique Zadrozny, LaPorte's Jessica Craft, Whiting's Amanda Blackwell and Lake Central's Samantha Terry.
