Scouting report: The Times Player of the Year blossomed in her junior year as a force on both offense and defense. The River Valley Conference player of the year led the area with 59 RBIs, as well as having the lowest earned run average for a starting pitcher, as the Ladycats won their 11th consecutive league title.
Sarah Crews, Beecher

Stats: .495 avg., 49 H, 15 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR, 32 RBIs, 28 runs, 2 SB, 14-3, 105.2 IP, 19 BB, 99 K, 1.73 ERA.
Scouting report: Crews was Savannah Soppet's doppelganger this season, not only with positions played in the field but with the bat as well. The first-team River Valley Conference selection hit a team-best .495 for the Bobcats, and her 1.73 ERA was the second-best in the area behind Soppet.

Scouting report: The new kid on the block had an immediate impact for the Spartans, both at the plate and as a pitcher. Spence added impressive offensive numbers with a team-high 15 walks. As a pitcher, the all-conference player helped take the Spartans to a 24-win season and the Class 3A regional finals.
Sarah Burke, Homewood-Flossmoor

Stats: 14-15, 184 IP, 38 BB, 208 K, 2.93 ERA.
Scouting report: Burke returns to the first team for the second consecutive year as one of the best pitchers in the area, when she was on her game. A 14-game winner who was occasionally the victim of a lack of run support, she had an area-best 208 strikeouts in 184 innings.
Abby King, Crete-Monee
Fr., C/SS
Stats: .570 avg., 69 H, 19 2B, 9 3B, 52 RBIs, 57 runs, 24 SB.
Scouting report: King was a headache for opponents at the plate all season. The lead-off hitter led the Warriors with an area-best .570 batting average, as well as leading the team in triples, runs scored, RBIs and stolen bases.
Melanie Lambert, Crete-Monee

Stats: .467 avg., 49 H, 15 2B, 2 3B, 3 HR, 50 RBIs, 11 SB.
Scouting report: A second-team selection in 2011, the All-Southland Athletic Conference player anchored the Warriors defense at first base while demonstrating clutch hitting at the plate for the Warriors, which finished second in the SAC.
Angela Roberts, Homewood-Flossmoor

Stats: .393 avg., 46 H, 15 2B, 1 3B, 4 HR, 32 RBIs, 34 runs; 4-0, 27 IP, 10 BB, 17 K, 2.59 ERA
Scouting report: Roberts made strong contributions both as a hitter and as a fielder for the Vikings. She led the team with 34 runs scored and 15 doubles this season, and though she was needed more in the field than on the mound, managed to go 4-0 as a pitcher.

Scouting report: A second-team all-area selection last year, Nickel combined steady play at shortstop with an explosive season at the plate. She had a team-high .558 average, along with team-best marks in RBIs and runs.
Samantha Oppenhuis, Illiana Christian

Stats: .445 avg., 37 H, 7 2B, 1 3B, 5 HR, 24 RBIs.
Scouting report: A solid defender at third base and always a big threat at the plate, the all-Metro Conference player had a team-high five home runs to help the Vikings win 13 games and reach the Class 2A regional finals.
Becca Stanton, Marian Catholic

Stats: .382 avg., 47 H, 8 2B, 8 HR, 37 RBI, 20 runs, 4 SB, .420 OBP.
Scouting report: Stanton returned for her second placement on the all-area first team. The all-East Suburban Conference slugger hit .a team-high eight home runs and broke the Spartans career mark for home runs.
Kaitlyn Shereyk, Homewood-Flossmor

Stats: .519 avg., 8 2B, 1 3B, 7 HR, 34 RBIs, 32 runs, 6 SB.
Scouting report: A two-time first team selection on the all-area team, Shereyk was the toughest out in the Vikings lineup, as the All-SouthWest Suburban Blue Conference selection led the team in batting average, RBIs, home runs and on-base percentage (.582).
Toni Formentini, Bloom Twp.

Formentini, a first-team selection in 2011, was once again the most consistent player in the Blazing Trojans lineup. She hit .354 with 26 runs and 21 RBIs. She added five stolen bases as the Blazing Trojans won 16 games.

Scouting report: A second-team all-area selection last year, Bowler put up a team-best 46 runs for the Ladycats this season. Along with hitting over .400, the All-River Valley Conference selection was also second on the team with eight stolen bases.
