Where Are They Now?: Nancy Findeisen
Nancy Findeisen is still at the top of her game.
The former Beecher High School and Lake Forest College pitching star has to be, as she deals with investments and income for her clients in a topsy-turvy market.
Findeisen is a sales associate for David A. Noyes & Company in Chicago. Her clients include many retired and senior citizens.
"They are looking to get income from their investments," she said. "They invested and put money away, now they want to have some income, but also protect the principal. That is my job -- to work with them to make sure their goals are being met."
Findeisen was an NCAA Division III All-American in 2002 when she helped lead Lake Forest College a third-place finish in the NCAA Division III tournament. She still holds several program records. At Beecher, she was a Class A third-team all-state pick and was the first Beecher female athlete to earn all-state honors. Findeisen did not win a state title at Beecher, but was part of the group that put the program on the map.
"It is nice to see what they have done, winning state titles," Findeisen said. "It is good to see women's sports get some recognition."
Findeisen is still active in sports, playing beach volleyball at North Avenue Beach and she does Bikram yoga, which is practiced in a room at 105 degrees.
"It is great because you really get a good workout in," Findeisen said. "For me, it is a good way to work your muscles with low impact. Yoga is so relaxing and it is just good, especially in the hot room."
She said she learned self-discipline from playing team sports.
"I think sports did help me because of the team attitude and team atmosphere we have here," Findeisen said. "In this business, you have to be aware of the trends, what the market is doing so you will have the answers for your clients."
She said her job is tough because of how the market has gone up and down.
"You build trust and that is what we have done at David A. Noyes & Company for over 100 years," Findeisen said. "I spend a lot of time talking with clients and making sure they are in the right things, which may be more conservative for them than someone in their 20s who is planning for later.
"It is listening and knowing your clients."
