LAPORTE | Defending state champion Chesterton's boys swimming team dominated the field at Saturday morning's LaPorte Invitational.
The Trojans swept all 13 swimming events.
"This was a fun meet," Chesterton coach Kevin Kinel said. "We were able to have a lot of kids swim in this one, and it was good for some of our younger swimmers to get the experience."
In the A relays, the Trojans (152 points) were followed by Duneland Athletic Conference rivals Crown Point (118), Portage (110), Valparaiso (102), Michigan City (94) and host LaPorte (40).
The Trojans also prevailed in the B relays, and were followed by Crown Point, Portage, LaPorte, Valparaiso and Michigan City.
"I was very pleased with the way we swam ," Kinel said.
Chesterton's closest win came in the 200 yard breast relay, where they edged Crown Point 2:05.79 to 2:06.91. The Trojans also edged LaPorte in the 200 free relay by one second, 1:35 to 1:36.
Portage won both diving events. In the boys 1-meter diving A event, the Indians had a finals score of 258.60, edging out Crown Point (180.15), Michigan City (177.65), Chesterton (173.50) and Valparaiso (164.45). Portage won the B event with a 198.85 finals score and were followed by Crown Point (146.85), Valparaiso (138.80), La Porte (135.30) and Chesterton (111.70).
