Illinois Lutheran hosts fundraiser: Illinois Lutheran will hold a “Cheer with Heart” fundraiser for the American Heart Association when its boys basketball team hosts River Valley Conference rival Beecher at 7:15 p.m. today.
Varsity cheerleaders from both schools are collecting pledges and will compete in a “Tumble-Off” competition between quarters and at halftime to determine which squad will earn honors as the tumbling champion. Pledges are being raised up to a minimum of $250 in order to put Illinois Lutheran assistant cheer coach Anngie Richter up in various cheerleading stunts. Paper hearts and "Go Red for Women" dress pins will be sold at the door for $1 each. A heart healthy bake sale will also help generate funds.
Special “Cheer with Heart” T-shirts were designed for each school to sell prior to the game. Anyone wearing the charitable shirt will be admitted to the game free. The Illinois Lutheran boosters will donate the evening’s gate to the American Heart Association. Both teams will wear various red accessories as part of their uniform in compliance with IHSA rules.
