Bria Gaines' 15 points and six rebounds led the Times No. 3 Bloom Township girls basketball team to a 61-41 victory over Kankakee to win the Southland Athletic Conference title Thursday night.
Kat Strong and Jailin Limpkin added eight points each for the Blazing Trojans (19-10, 10-0).
Homewood-Flossmoor 72, Joliet Central 29: Sydni Johnson paced the Vikings (17-9, 11-3) with 21 points in a SouthWest Suburban Blue Conference win. Jaiveonna Norris added 12 points for H-F.
Thornwood 67, Thornton 35: Aaliyah Wricks' 15 points and eight rebounds led the Thunderbirds (15-10, 8-6) to a SouthWest Suburban Red win.
Linda Tolbert led the Wildcats with 12 points.
Watseka 45, Beecher 27: Danielle Snuckel's 10 points led the Ladycats, but they came up short in a loss to Watseka in the Class 2A Hoopeston Regional final.

Illinois Lutheran hosts fundraiser: Illinois Lutheran will hold a “Cheer with Heart” fundraiser for the American Heart Association when its boys basketball team hosts River Valley Conference rival Beecher at 7:15 p.m. today.
Varsity cheerleaders from both schools are collecting pledges and will compete in a “Tumble-Off” competition between quarters and at halftime to determine which squad will earn honors as the tumbling champion. Pledges are being raised up to a minimum of $250 in order to put Illinois Lutheran assistant cheer coach Anngie Richter up in various cheerleading stunts. Paper hearts and "Go Red for Women" dress pins will be sold at the door for $1 each. A heart healthy bake sale will also help generate funds.
Special “Cheer with Heart” T-shirts were designed for each school to sell prior to the game. Anyone wearing the charitable shirt will be admitted to the game free. The Illinois Lutheran boosters will donate the evening’s gate to the American Heart Association. Both teams will wear various red accessories as part of their uniform in compliance with IHSA rules.
