After stumbling out of the gate, Andrean's boys basketball team picked up its second win in a row Thursday night, beating Wheeler 54-37 at home.
The 59ers (2-3) got 18 points from Colin Flowers. Andrean hit six 3-pointers in besting the Bearcats (2-3).
Nick Podkul also scored 11 for the hosts. James Miller was the only Wheeler player in double-digit scoring getting 17 with three 3-pointers.
Chesterton loses Teal: Chesterton's Cole Teal broke his clavicle during a collision at practice Thursday. The senior point guard, who averages 12.8 points per game, is expected to miss four to six weeks.
Highland 63, Lowell 62, OT: Behind a 21-point, fourth-quarter performance, Highland pushed Lowell into overtime, then squeezed past the previously unbeaten Red Devils in Northwest Crossroads Conference action.
Aleysha Slaven scored 21 with an 11-for-16 night from the free-throw line for the Trojans (7-2, 3-1). Brianna Williams added 13 points, and Alyssa Kikalos chipped in 10.
Hunter Jusevitch scored 19 points for the Red Devils (7-1, 2-1) before fouling out. Nicole Sharkey, who also fouled out, scored 16. Sydney Barta added 13 with 16 rebounds.
Morgan Twp. 40, Boone Grove 20: Trina Coleman scored 13 points, and Brianna Leuck added 10 as Cherokees doubled up the Wolves in a Porter County Conference action. Coleman also posted five rebounds, three assists and three steals for Morgan (8-3, 3-0).
Rachel Cantwell paced the Wolves (2-6, 1-5) with eight points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
The teams combined to miss 22 of 31 free throws.
Crown Point 105, Rensselaer 81: Hannah Kukurugya (200 IM, 100 butterfly), Danielle Yagielski (100 free, 100 backstroke) and Aly Tetzloff (100 breast, 500 free) won two individual events each as the No. 1 Bulldogs (7-0) won every event.
Wheeler 70, South Central 10; North Newton 78, Wheeler 72; North Newton 110, South Central 12: Rachel Metzger won the 100 fly and 500 free, but the Spartans edged the Bearcats. Gabi Gilliana (100 breast, 200 IM) and Sara Helmerich (100 free, 200 free) were also double winners for Wheeler.
Morton 96, Hobart 79: Nick Newell and Connor Davidson finished first in two individual events as the Governors edged Hobart.
Newell won the 200 IM (2:19.95) and 100 butterfly (1:04.15), while Davidson caputred the 50 free (23.10) and 100 free (51.28).
Wheeler 78, South Central 10; Wheeler 81, North Newton 70; North Newton 108, South Central 12: Jack Fekete (50 and 100 free) and Nathan Graf (200 IM, 100 breast) each garnered a pair of firsts to lead the Bearcats to victory.
