Jenasae Bishop scored a game-high 19 points and E.C. Central used a 23-point third quarter to top LaPorte 60-57 on Thursday.

Nia Hurt chipped in 17 points for the Cardinals, thanks in part to four 3-pointers.

Janelle O'Neal's 18 paced LaPorte, which also had 16 points from Riley Ott and 12 from Madison Pierro.

It was the regular-season finale for E.C., while LaPorte is slated to play South Bend Adams on Saturday.

Marquette Catholic 50, Culver Academies 18: Sophia Nolan scored 19 points in the win as Marquette Catholic held Culver Academies scoreless in the second quarter.

Boys swimming

Chesterton 117, Munster 69: Andrew Alders, Nick Hanas and Ethan Wing each won two events as Chesterton won the nonconference matchup.

Alders captured the 100-yard butterfly (51.43 seconds) and 200 individual medley (1:54.09) while Wing earned the freestyle sprint victories — the 50 (21.77) and the 100 (47.72). Hanas was the distance champ, winning the 200 (1:44.70) and 500 (4:50.64) freestyles.

Highland 115, Morton 59: Jacob Payonk won the 100 fly and 100 breaststroke events to lead Highland in the win.

Lowell 94, Rensselaer 91: Ethan Krucina's wins in the 200 (1:44.28) and 100 (48.51) freestyle races helped Lowell to the close victory.

Girls swimming

Chesterton 131, Munster 55: Jaclyn Klimczak won the 100 backstroke and the 200 IM for Chesterton, and swam on the 200 medley relay to help pace the Trojans.

Kay Foley won the distance events — the 200 (1:52.56) and 500 (5:02.90) — for Munster.

Highland 108, Morton 37: Rachel Stange won the 200 and 100 freestyle events and Morgan Rose won the 500 and 50 free for Highland.

KV's Hentschel inks with Bethel: Kankakee Valley thrower Kirsten Hentschel signed Thursday with Bethel College.

The regional qualifier in the discus last year is ranked 71st in the nation as an indoor thrower and becomes the third member of the KV track and field team to sign with the Pilots.
