The Times No. 1 Valparaiso girls golf team capped an undefeated Duneland Athletic Conference season and wrapped up its first conference title since 2006 with a 163-203 victory over LaPorte on Thursday at Forest Park.
Harley Dubsky carded a 1-under-par 36 to claim medalist honors, and Jennifer Gough followed with a 39 for the Vikings (9-0, 7-0).
Crown Point 179, Portage 182: At Robbinhurst, Tiffany Curtis shot a 38 as the Bulldogs slipped past the Indians (6-5, 2-5 DAC). Alicia Wood's 42 led Portage.
Lake Central 174, Chesterton 186: At Sand Creek, Kylie Shoemake posted a 41, and Kiana Jongsma turned in a 42 to lift the Indians over the Trojans. Chesterton's Grace Davis was co-medalist, shooting a 41.
Boone Grove 2, Culver Academies 0: Nik Azevedo and Austin Aguilera each scored, and Nathan Miller made four stops to lift the Wolves (6-2) past the Eagles.
Hanover Central 7, Covenant Christian 3: Melissa Balkema had a hat trick, and teammates Kaylin Fanta, Carrie Johnston, Abby Gasior and Rylie Singleton all scored once, while Ivy Dawson made six saves.
Sophia Van Koppel scored twice for the Knights (4-3-1).
Highland 4, Michigan City 1: Paige Brown scored twice; Karly Gragido had a goal and an assist; Morgan Pickens had two assists, and Megan McCarty scored to lead the Trojans (3-4).
Erin Callaghan had the lone goal for Michigan City (2-6).
Portage 3, Merrillville 2: Blake Logsdon won in three sets at two singles, and the one doubles team of Jon Craig and Kody McGuire rallied to do the same as the Indians (6-4, 2-2) edged the Pirates.
Valparaiso 5, Lake Central 0: The Vikings (8-2, 4-0) didn't drop a set in their DAC victory over the Indians (6-3, 3-1).
Griffith 3, Andrean 2: The Panthers (5-5, 2-2) won both doubles matches for a Northwest Crossroads Conference win over the 59ers (4-5, 1-3). Greg Copp and Josh Zoran, and Jon Madrigal and Zach Diamond won in doubles, while Brett Tauber won at No. 1 singles.
Andrean's Jake Brown and Michael Kinasiewicz were singles winners.
Lowell 3, Kankakee Valley 2: The Red Devils (6-2, 4-1) got wins from Steven Hill at No. 3 singles and both doubles -- Ben Roesel and Jayson Savich at No. 1 and Zab Johnson and Tyler Damm at No. 2.
Luke Sanderson and Anthony Zoppatti won in singles for K.V. (4-7).
West Side 4, Gavit 1: The Cougars got wins from Robert Hogan, Jamail Harris and Gerardo Contreras in singles and Shaun Dukes-Daishan Harris at No. 2 doubles in their victory.
The Glads' Jesus Munoz and Frank Baletiwcz won at No. 1 doubles.
Bishop Noll 3, Lake Station 2: The Warriors (3-2, 2-1) swept the singles en route to a Greater South Shore Conference victory over the Eagles (1-6, 1-2).
Spencer Hickey, A.J. Argamsailla and John Paul Kosto won for Bishop Noll.
In doubles, Mike Denisiuk and Matt Forsythe, and Melvin Taylor and Mark Novakovich won for Lake Station.
Boys cross country
Hobart 25, Lowell 30: The Red Devils' Brian Blaylock won in 16 minutes, 29 seconds, but the Brickies pulled out an NCC dual victory.
Hobart's Alek Seeley (17:08) and Brent Dunn (17:18) took second and third, respectively.
Hanover Central 23, North Newton 32: Nick Zak and Mike York went 1-2 to lead the Wildcats past the Spartans.
Girls cross country
Hobart 18, Lowell 45: Mindy Whidden (19:28) and Celena Guerrero (19:29) finished 1-2 to lead the Brickies to an NCC dual meet win over the Brickies.
Lowell's Sarah Wieser was third (20:55).
Lake Central 25-25-25, Merrillville 17-14-11: Myranda Harris had 16 digs, and Ashley Hansbury added 15 digs for the Pirates, but the Indians were too much in the DAC match.
River Forest 25-25-25, North Newton 12-16-21: Alexis Nuzzo had 19 assists, 14 digs and eight aces to lead the Ingots (8-5) to a GSSC win. Teammate Caylyn Bellar had 10 kills, and Leslie Esquivel added 12 digs.
Highland 20-25-29-25, Griffith 25-16-27-5: Alaina Chacn's 15 kills, three aces and nine digs, and Brittany Fowler's four aces and 25 assists led the Trojans to an NCC win over the Panthers. Morgan Lenhart had five kills, and Taylor Ryckman had six aces and seven digs.
Kankakee Valley 25-25-25, Hanover Central 19-18-22: The Kougars got 20 kills and 15 digs from Gab Martin, while Lauren Stokes added 28 assists and six aces. The Wildcats got 11 kills and 18 assists from Savanna Blackman.
