TUESDAY'S ILLINOIS PREP ROUNDUP: T.F. North girls basketball team clinches share of SSC Blue
The T.F. North girls basketball team moved one game closer to a conference title with an 88-38 win over Bremen on Tuesday.
The Meteors (18-7, 12-0) can win the South Suburban Blue title outright on Thursday with a win over Lemont.
Sharee Greenlee scored 26 points with six 3-point field goals; Tashai Johnson had 12 point and 11 rebounds, and Devin Luster scored 13.
Homewood-Flossmoor 57, Lincoln-Way Central 29: Danielle Woolfolk's 17 points and Amena Brent's 14 led Times No. 1 Homewood-Flossmoor (19-7, 10-3 SouthWest Suburban Blue).
St. Francis de Sales 36, Chicago University 28: Taelor O'Bannon's six points and 14 rebounds powered the Pioneers (15-10) past the Maroons in one semifinal of the Class 2A Chicago University Regional.
Tasia Harris had 10 points. St. Francis de Sales will play Chicago Ag Science at 7 p.m. Thursday for the championship.
Beecher 48, Manteno 33: Amari Griffin and Ashley Carroll combined for 40 points to lead the Ladycats to a win in one quarterfinal of the Class 2A Beecher Regional.
Griffin scored 21 points, and Carroll had 19. The No. 3 seed Ladycats will play No. 2 seed Seneca at 8:10 p.m. today. Seneca beat Wilmington 53-31 in another quarterfinal game.
Andrew 66, Thornwood 49: Tiana Karopulos' 20 points led the Thunderbolts (16-8, 10-3) to a SouthWest Suburban Red win over the Thunderbirds.
Boys Basketball
Mount Carmel 60, Hales Franciscan 45: Alex Austin scored 21 points, and Christian Searles added 12 while going 8-of-8 from the free-throw line for Mount Carmel (9-12, 5-4 Catholic League).
Gardner-South Wilmington 67, Illinois Lutheran 56: Collin Borns' 20 points led Illinois Lutheran (12-8, 5-6 River Valley Conference), but it wasn't enough to stop Gardner-South Wilmington (12-12, 7-4).
