Bishop Noll senior Larry Crisler was named the IBCA/Subway Player of the Week for District 1 boys.
Crisler averaged 22.7 points over three games, leading the Warriors to their fourth straight Greater South Shore Conference tourney title. Crisler had 36 points, six rebounds, four assists and seven steals in an 87-61 opening-round win over Marquette. He had 20 points in a 75-50 semifinal victory over Whiting. He finished the week with 12 points, seven rebounds, three steals and three assists in a 64-48 title-game win over Lake Station.
Other weekly winners included James Blackmon Jr. (Marion), Nick Macon (Madison), Ashley Campbell (Oregon-Davis), Alexa McKinsey (Southmont) and Ali Patberg (Columbus North).
Other local nominees included Davon Dillard (Bowman Academy), Bryce Hanaway (Hebron), Christian Jacobs (West Side), Jake Koselke (Morgan Township), Rolanda Curlington (Lake Central), Nicole Konieczny (LaPorte) and Jill Rosenbaum (South Central).
Meet the Vikes Night Thursday: Thursday will be Meet the Vikes Night when the Valparaiso High School gymnastics team hosts Lowell, Hobart and Boone Grove at 6 p.m. Elementary students will be admitted free with a paid adult admission. Students attending can talk with the VHS team after the meet.
