Alyssa Harvey turned in a 39 for the Bulldogs, while Tiffany Curtis carded a 40.
Portage 209, Michigan City 224: At Michigan City's Municipal South Course, Aliicia Wood was the medalist with a 46 to pace the Indians to a DAC win.
Chesterton swimmer Pieroni 16th at World Juniors: Chesterton senior Blake Pieroni placed 16th in the 200-meter freestyle at the fourth annual FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in Dubai.
Pieroni finished the race in 1 minute, 51.41 seconds. He will also represent the United States in the 800 free relay, which takes place today.
Crown Point 5, Andrean 0: Bryce Bonin, Lance Noerenberg and Anthony Kendall all won their singles matches to help the Bulldogs shut out the 59ers.
Griffith 4, E.C. Central 1: Britt Tauber, Aaron Brown and Matt Csonka won their respective singles matches for Griffith to lead the Panthers to the win.
Guillermo Cabrera and Reyes Maldonado won at No. 1 doubles for E.C. Central.
Highland 3, Merrillville 2: Andres Campos and Luke Turochi survived a 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 match at No. 2 doubles to help the No. 9 Trojans edge the Pirates.
Merrillville's Nygel Jackson won in straight sets at No. 1 singles.
Lowell 3, Portage 2: Steven Hill won at No. 3 singles for Lowell, which swept both doubles matches.
John Fannin and Blake Logsdon won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles for Portage.
Morton 3, Calumet 2: KC Beitler won at No. 3 singles for Morton, which won both doubles matches to earn the tough win.
Josh Borst and Adrian Flores won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles for Calumet.
Bishop Noll 5, Lowell 0: The visiting Warriors got two goals from Gabriel Anguiano and Alex Avalos and another from Aaron Garza to pick up the win. Goalie Jonathan Lozano had 10 saves in picking up the shutout.
Covenant Christian 2, Rensselaer 1: The Knights (2-0) got goals from Brian Kish and Justin Handtke to hand the Bombers (2-1-1) their first loss.
Portage 'Soccer in the Park' Saturday: Portage will host "Soccer in the Park" during Saturday's matches against Griffith. The event will take place on the east fields at Imagination Glen Park. Junior varsity match is at 12:30 p.m., while the varsity follows at 2.
Andrean 2, Highland 1: Danielle Tazic scored a goal; Natalie Nowesnick had an assist, and Maddie Mandich made 12 saves for the 59ers in the win.
Wheeler 5, Hebron 0: Terra Phillips had a hat trick, and teammate Shannon Eden added two goals as the No. 7 Bearcats (4-0) shut out the Hawks. Kadie Spoor made four saves.
Griffith 5, Hobart 1: Emily Duhan and Lauren Hernandez each scored twice for the Panthers, who earned a Northwest Crossroads Conference win. Breanna Ally scored the other goal.
Hobart's goal came from Ashley Henningfield.
Boys cross country
Valparaiso 15, Kouts 55, Westville 70: The Times No. 1 Vikings rested their top runners, but still took the top nine spots, led by Isaiah Smith (18 minutes, 59 seconds). Jack Gabrish was second in 19:07, followed by Aaron Finley, John Buggein and Logan Meeter.
Kouts' Mike Ferrell was the first finisher from another school, taking 10th.
Hanover Central 25-23-15-25-16, Lowell 12-25-25-14-14: Ashley DeBoer had 27 kills and 19 digs for the Red Devils, but the Wildcats completed the improbable come-from-behind win.
Savanna Zakman led the Wildcats with 13 kills.
Kankakee Valley 25-25-25, Rensselaer 7-8-13: Danielle Ruesken had nine kills to lead the Kougars to the win.Gabrielle Martin added five for the winners. Lauren Stokes added 18 assists.
Valparaiso 25-25-25, Hobart 21-3-22: Noelle Eveland had nine kills and eight digs, helping the No. 3 Vikings (2-2) sweep the Brickies. Morgan Mikenas added five kills.
South Central 25-25-25, Kouts 14-10-14: Bri Satoski had nine attack kills, 12 digs and four block kills to help the Satellites (3-1, 1-1) sweep the Fillies in Porter County Conference play. Kaitlyn Jackson added eight kills, nine digs and three aces.
Ivette Muzquiz had three kills for Kouts.
Victory Christian 25-25-25, Hammond Academy 6-6-16: Hannah Krol had seven aces, and Hollie Huber added six as the Lions (7-0) remained undefeated. Jessica Holbrook had four kills.
Morgan Township 25-25-25, Lake Station 16-22-10: Alison Goetz had 10 kills, three digs and two aces to help the Cherokees sweep the Eagles. Kia Holder added eight kills.
Westville 26-25-25, E.C. Central 24-8-17: Ashley McClintock had 11 kills, four assists and three digs to help the Blackhawks sweep the Cardinals.
