Abby Kvachkoff scored a game-high 26 points, and Anna Eksten added 10 Tuesday night in leading Crown Point past E.C. Central, 66-28, in girls basketball action.

West Side 63, Hammond 16: Dana Evans had 14 points and six steals, and Ashley Danzy added 12 points in leading the Cougars (2-0) over the Wildcats.

Diamond Fields led Hammond with eight points.

Boys basketball

Kouts 73, West Central 53: Senior center Matt Stewart racked up 22 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks to power the Mustangs over visiting West Central. Jake Bekelya backed Stewart with 22 points, while Cody Nelson notched 18 to go with five steals.

Rockridge (Ill.) 63, Marquette Catholic 48: At a tournament in Washington, Ill., the Blazers dropped their opener to the top-ranked Class 2A team in Illinois. Braxton Miller scored 16 points for Marquette, with JoVonte Peals adding a dozen.

Hebron 52, Covenant Christian 34: Bryce Hanaway put up 20 points to go with 10 assists to pace the Hawks past the Knights.

Girls swimming

Chesterton 150, Merrillville 25: Cara Kroeger (50 freestyle, 100 backstroke) and Trenee Fancher-Keller (200 free, 500 free) each posted a pair of firsts to power the Trojans to a one-sided Duneland Athletic Conference dual victory.

Kankakee Valley 100, Hobart 83: Madison Babicka and Abbey Sittema each took two individual firsts and helped the 200-medley and 400-freestyle relays to wins as the Kougars downed the Brickies.

Kaylee Gubricky posted victories in the 100 breaststroke and 200 free for Hobart and also anchored the 200 free relay to first place.

Lowell 123, Griffith 51: The Red Devils won 10 events, including all three relays, to cruise past the Panthers.

Alyssa Pokropinski took the 50 free, 100 free and swam a leg on the victorious 200-medley and 200-freestyle relays. Lauren Igras captured the 100 butterfly, 200 free and swam a leg on the winning 200 medley and 400 free relays.

Munster 137, Highland 41: The Mustangs won every event and were led by double individual winner Nikki Smith in the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle.

Wrestling

Calumet 54, Lake Station 24: The victorious Warriors opened their season by winning six matches against the Eagles (3-3).
