Hyron Edwards scored a game-high 27 points, and Anfernee Brown added 15 enabling E.C. Central (6-5) to claim a 64-61 road victory over Hammond in boys basketball action Tuesday night.

Michael Kirkendall had 26 points, and Levon Hamilton scored 22, which included four 3-point field goals, for Hammond (7-5).


Boys Swimming

Chesterton 129, Portage 57: Blake Pieroni continued his usual winning ways, taking the 200 free (1:39.20), 100 fly (49.99) and helping the Trojans win the 200 free relay (1:27.29). Aaron Whitaker won the 100 free (46.86) and 100 breast (1:02.38). Ethan Whitaker took the 500 free (4:38.75).

Portage diver John Fannin picked up the only win for the Indians (288.40).

Crown Point 112, Lake Central 74: Johnny Lynk picked up individual wins in the 50 free (22.88), 100 back (57.09) and helped his team win the 200 medley relay (1:43.17) and the 400 free relay (3:33.41).

Joshua Barajas picked up the 200 free (1:52.19) and 500 free (5:01.26) for Lake Central, also helping the Indians take the 200 free relay (1:33.57).

Lowell 93, Griffith 73: Griffith won nine of the 12 events, but Lowell's depth guided the Red Devils to a Northwest Crossroads Conference win.

For Lowell, Tyler Morgan won the 100 fly (1:00.44) and took part in the winning 400 free relay (4:22.37). Jeff Potat won the 100 back (1:03.07).

Griffith's Alex Rosales helped his team take the 200 medley relay (1:52.07), 200 free relay (1:39.59) and individually won diving (292.05) and the 100 free (55.30).


Girls Swimming

Chesterton 144, Portage 41: Julia Campbell won the 50 free (25.25) and 100 back (1:00.18) before ending her meet as the anchor on the winning 400 free relay (3:46.73). Mae Bass took the 200 IM (2:18.34) and 100 fly (1:03.44), helping the Trojans sweep every event.

Crown Point 93, Lake Central 93: Crown Point won 10 events, but the depth of the Indians helped bring the two Duneland Athletic Conference rivals to a tie.

Holly Schuster picked up individual wins in the 100 fly (59.49) and 100 breast (1:07.49) and also helped Crown Point win the 200 medley relay (1:52.09). 


Girls Basketball

Clark 42, Gavit 25: Anastasia Holden led the Pioneers (6-9, 3-2) with 13 points in a Great Lakes Athletic Conference rout. Gladis Garcia added 11 points for Clark.

Breona Mueller led Gavit (6-10, 2-3) with seven points.

Griffith 40, Highland 19: The Panthers limited their opponents to just two points in the first half before cruising to a Northwest Crossroads Conference victory. Taylor Austin and Sammi Adams scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Griffith (11-6, 3-2).

Alyssa Kikalos had eight points to lead to Highland (4-11, 0-5).
