The Lowell girls cross country team put six runners in the top nine to take the team title at Tuesday's Hobart Invitational.

The Red Devils scored 26 points to the host Brickies' 47. Hobart's Holly Shaginaw covered the Big Maple Lake course in 19 minutes, 32.17 seconds. Olivia McCauley and Lexi Bibakis were second and third for the Red Devils.

Hobart won the boys race, 23-47, over Lowell, led by first-place finisher Diego Gomez (17:06.7), edging E.C. Central's Enrique Ramos. Jake Tarnow of Marquette Catholic was third.

Boys cross country

North Newton Invitational: Bishop Noll's Tyler Dowd placed first in the race with a time of 17:37. The Warriors were fifth as a team.

Boys soccer

Victory Christian 5, Granger Christian 1: JP Vershay recorded a hat-trick to lead the Lions (11-2-2). Jaden Byers and Pierre Miller added goals.

Illiana Christian 5, Aurora Central Catholic 4: Josh Smits netted a hat-trick as the Vikings (10-4-1) edged the Chargers. Sam Gaich and Josh Matisik also scored goals.

Girls soccer

Boone Grove 13, Westville 1: Brook Burbridge had two goals with two assists as the Wolves rolled past the Blackhawks.

Lauren Casbon added two goals and an assist. Lexi Darnell dished out three assists, also scoring a goal. Alivia Peters and Jessica Conner had a goal and an assist.

Marquette Catholic 7, Morgan Township 1: Stacey Barron bagged a hat-trick for the Blazers (13-3). Michaela Jennings had a goal and two assists. Claire Salyer and Brittney Stadler also scored.

Valparaiso 10, Portage 0: Janci Courtaney had a pair of goals and assists in a Duneland Athletic Conference blowout win for the Vikings. Olivia Shaw added two goals. Six other players added a goal apiece.

Highland 5, Hobart 0: Jackie Frye recorded a pair of goals and an assist for the Trojans (9-5, 5-1) in a Northwest Crossroads Conference win. Morgan Rinkema made 10 saves for the clean sheet. Jen Sheehan and Jamie Gessler added goals.

Crown Point 9, Michigan City 0: Emmie McConnell scored twice for the Bulldogs (11-4, 6-4) in a DAC rout of the Wolves. Seven other players added a goal apiece.

Lake Central 5, Merrillville 0: Adrianna Naumoski scored a pair of goals as the Indians blanked the Pirates in a DAC matchup. Lauren Bulf and Brenna Thompson each had a goal and an assist. Haley Brown scored a goal.

Boys volleyball

Porter County Conference tournament: Peyton Doelling notched 14 kills and added a pair of aces as the Hawks clinched a PCC tourney championship berth with a 25-21, 25-13, 25-9 win over Kouts. Jake Willison added five aces and three kills.

Girls volleyball

Andrean 25-25-25, Kankakee Valley 12-15-17: Christina Dal Santo had 15 digs, including the 1,000th of her career, as the 59ers took down the Kougars. Teammate Serena Wagner had 10 kills, 12 digs and 25 asssists. Jenna Dal Santo racked up 19 kills. Lauren Moberly had four aces and 14 digs.

Valparaiso 25-25-25, Merrillville 6-12-7: Maya Patheja had seven kills to lead the Vikings to a DAC win. Emma Terwilliger and Rachel Vendl each added 12 digs. Mia Brown had six kills and Maya Coady added five kills.

Lowell 25-25-25, Highland 16-15-22: Morgan Iversen and Genevieve Grah each collected 10 kills as the Red Devils beat the Trojans. Gabby Malave added six kills. Haley Penman had 13 digs and 23 assists.

Crown Point 25-25-25, Chesterton 13-10-13: Morgan Chacon recorded 13 kills and 14 digs as the Bulldogs picked up a DAC win. Peyton Yelich added 10 kills and seven solo blocks. Alex Equihua had 28 assists.

T.F. South 25-27-25, T.F. North 20-27-13: Gabi Kiele had 10 kills and Elizabeth Chukwulebe added seven kills in the rivalry win for the Rebels (12-7). Melba Smith had 13 assists. Erin Titus had five kills and six aces.
