West Side junior quarterback Ramone Adkins has been named to the Indiana Prime Time 25 by Indiana Football Digest and the Regional Radio Sports Network.
Honorees were recognized at the eighth annual Griddy's awards ceremony March 9 at the Colts' facility in Indianapolis. Adkins has led the state in passing yards the last two years. He is the first Cougars player to be selected to the list.
Locals nominated for honors: Several area players were among the nominees for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association/Subway Player of the Week honors for their performances in the regionals.
Marquette's Tyshaun Smallwood, Bishop Noll's Larry Crisler, Bowman Academy's Davon Dillard, Andrean's Nick Podkul, LaPorte's Josh Fleming and Lake Central's Tyler Wideman were all nominated for District 1 honors, which went to Penn junior Jordan Geist.
Geist scored 52 points in the Class 4A Michigan City Regional, including 20 in the second half of the championship against Lake Central that powered a Kingsmen comeback.
District 2 honors went to Park Tudor's Trevon Blueitt, who scored 70 points in a pair of 2A regional wins, while the District 3 award was given to Clay City's Trevor Singer. It marks the third time Blueitt has been selected Player of the Week this season.
