VALPARAISO | Griffith's fatigue started to show in the fourth quarter.
Three big games, four days and the Panthers won't use it as an excuse.
Except it meant a 50-27 loss to Class A No. 8 Turkey Run in Griffith's debut in the Region Roundball Rumble.
"I don't think we were mentally ready," Griffith coach Tom Golumbeck said. "The things we're used to doing on the defensive end, we weren't doing."
Meghan Doss, named the game's MVP, scored 22 points (10 from the free throw line) to lead the Warriors (9-1). Doss, Turkey Run's only senior, also had four assists and a pair of steals.
"She can do it all," Turkey Run coach Sam Karr said. "When we need a basket, she wills it and gets it. She brings a lot to the table and you saw it today. She's been playing that way, really consistent, for the last four or five games."
The Times No. 9 Panthers (9-4) had no answer for Doss behind the arc, as she hit two 3s from well beyond college range. Chelsea Newnum added a pair of 3s, both of which were uncontested.
"We didn't do a good job of communicating on defense and you can't make that many mistakes when you play a good team," Golumbeck said.
Newnum added 10 points and Adrianne Francis had seven steals as the Warriors forced Griffith into 19 turnovers. Turkey Run scored nine points off of turnovers.
"Our plan was, every opportunity we had to score," Doss said. "We had to make sure we converted those turnovers."
Shanlynn Bias led Griffith with eight points as the Panthers kept waiting for a player to step up. Amanda Stinnett and Lauren Hansen both had six points each.
"If we don't have someone step up, we're not going to score a lot on offense," Golumbeck said. "It wasn't for lack of effort. We were trying and trying as hard as we could, we were just looking a little fatigued."
