Boone Grove’s Lauren Casbon won the MaxPreps.com girls soccer player of the week for the state of Indiana from Sept. 25 to Oct. 4.

Over that time, Casbon scored 12 goals, including five against Michigan City. She also had four assists, three of those against M.C., a game she netted 13 points, a season best.

The senior has 33 goals this season for the Wolves with 15 assists.

Boys soccer

Boone Grove Sectional: The host Wolves defeated Covenant Christian 2-1 at the Class A sectional site.

Andrew Ingram had a goal for the Knights. Daniel Van Kley had an assist.

Cameron VanderMolen made 13 saves.

Elkhart Christian Sectional: Washington Township lost 6-1 to LaVille in the semifinals of this Class A sectional.

The Lancers will face either Bremen or Marquette Catholic in Saturday's championship.

Girls volleyball

Boone Grove 25-25-26, River Forest 10-21-24: Rachel Wilkening led the Wolves (28-4) with nine kills, four digs and three aces.

Teammate Abby Foster had six kills. Josie Joiner had five kills, seven assists and five digs. Olivia Hendzel had three aces, three kills, 12 assists and two digs. Stef Ziemniak had five kills and dive digs.

Destiney Pratchett had 11 digs for the Ingots. Teammate Abby Galligan had six digs and 3 kills. Emily Bowen had three aces and five assists.

T.F. South 25-25, Bremen 13-21: Elizabeth Chukwulebe had three kills and seven assists for the Rebels (14-8) in the win.

Teammate Haley Murphy added four kills. Erin Titus had three kills. Melba Smith had seven assists. Elena Hawkins had seven aces.
