Times No. 3 Chesterton went 13-for-13 from the charity stripe Wednesday in a 40-39 win in the championship game against host Warsaw at the Lady Tiger Classic.

Courtney Krol led the Trojans (14-1) with 11 points and four steals. Hailey Vale added nine points.

Krol posted 23 points and tallied six steals in a 53-37 win over Perry Meridian in first round action.

Maddie Scott and Sarah Dzierba added 10 apiece for the Trojans.

Lake Station Holiday Tournament: River Forest defeated North Newton 64-54 in the championship game behind 13 points from Avery Vanderberg.

Abby Galligan and Fabiola Cervantes added 11 points each for the Ingots (5-9).

Calumet defeated Lake Station 44-40 in the third-place as Kayla Champion scored a team-high 15 points.

Jai Reed had 12 points for the Warriors (4-9).

Bre Poats (15) and Taylor Austin (14) led the Eagles (7-8)

River Forest edged Calumet 48-46 in the first round led by 14 points from Marissa Mays. North Newton edged L.S. 46-44 despite 26 points from Austin.

Franklin County Tournament: No. 1 Marquette Catholic rolled to a 53-34 pool play victory over Indianapolis Chatard led by Emma Nolan's 23 points.

Sophia Nolan had 15 points and Morgan Crook eight for Marquette.

The Blazers (12-1) notched their second win of the day with a 52-27 blowout win over Jennings County paced by 19 points from Sophia Nolan.

Emma Nolan added 12 for Marquette and Emmery Joseph and Mackenzie Marovich had seven apiece.

Twin Lakes Tournament

Ari Gerdt had 14 points for the Times No. 2 Vikings (11-4) in their 72-51 win over Logansport in the first round.

Taylor Zimmeman had 11 points and Shea Pendleton chipped in nine for Valpo.

Boys basketball

Big Dipper Tournament: Rayshon Howard notched a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds in a 61-36 win for Michigan City over Michelle Clark in the consolation bracket at Rich South.

Jaivion Reid had 10 points and William Hanyard added nine for the Wolves (3-5).

Bowman Academy dropped a quarterfinal matchup 74-54 to Leo.

Langston Stalling led the Eagles with 22 points. Amari Sherrod had 10 points.

Highland Holiday Hoopfest: Tim Lawson scored a team high 20 points for Griffith in a 66-60 win over Morton in the first round. Jake Dye added 15 points for the Panthers.

Khrye Hines had 23 points to lead the Governors.

Tyler Brankin knocked down five 3s and scored a game-high 21 points to lead Highland to a 74-61 win over Whiting in the other first round game.

Isaac Sytsma scored 17 and dished out eight assists for the Trojans. Nick Thompson added 13 points and nine rebounds. Tyler Scheidt had 10 points.

G' Angelo Reillo tallied 16 points, six assists and four steals for Whiting. Nino Barbosa also had 16. Diante Marshall chipped in 13 points and four steals.

Kankakee Christmas Tournament: Colton DeJong's 21 points led the way for Illiana Christian in a 68-66 win over Grant Park.

Collin Flipse chipped in 15 points for the Vikings and notched nine assists. Daniel Chandler had 13 points.

Jack Tosh Holiday Classic: T.F. South lost 52-47 to Stagg in a consolation bracket game at York Community High School

Eric Blair, Jr. and Nicholas Seaton each had 12 points for the Rebels in the loss.
