Kiana Jongsma shot a 38 to lead Times No. 2 Lake Central to a Duneland Athletic Conference win over Portage on Wednesday at Palmira.

Julia Beggs carded a 40, while Kylie Shoemake and Allie Onest each turned in 41s to cap a solid round for the Indians.

Autumn Stevenson led Portage with a 48.

North Newton 223, Hanover Central 226, Bishop Noll 241: North Newton's Alisha Watts led all golfers with a 48, helping the Spartans hold on for the win.

Kankakee Valley 189, Lowell 195, Boone Grove 203: Tara Beere's 46 led the balanced Kougars to a triangular triumph at Lakes of the Four Seasons. The Wolves' Abbey Lukas earned medalist honors with a 45.

 

Girls soccer

Hebron 4, Boone Grove 3: Hebron outlasted Times No. 7 Boone Grove in a penalty kick shootout.

Bailey Torres notched the regulation score for the Hawks, while Amy Guerrero did the same for the Wolves.

Kouts 4, Washington Township 0: Miranda Birmingham scored twice to lead the Fillies over the Senators (0-2-1). Kasey Cavinder and Joslyn Hemdal added goals, while Chloe Deardurff had two assists. Tiffany Tratar (eight saves) and Emmalee Deardurff (two saves) combined on the shutout.

Meet the Vikes Night Tuesday: Valparaiso will host Meet the Vikes Night at 5 p.m. Tuesday when the Vikings play Merrillville. Youth soccer players, aged 4 to eighth grade, will be admitted free as long as they wear their team jersey and are accompanied by an adult. Tickets are $6.

 

Boys soccer

Highland 4, Lowell 1: John Toweson led the Trojans with two goals and added an assist in a Northwest Crossroads Conference win. 

 

Boys tennis

Andrean 4, West Side 0: The 59ers got wins from Jake Brown, Michael Kinasiewicz and Anthony Zaleski in singles competition, and the No. 1 doubles team of Zachary Fairchild and Evan Karpen won 6-0, 6-3.

Crown Point 5, Highland 0: The No. 2 Bulldogs rolled over the Trojans by winning all five matches. Lance Noerenberg won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

Lake Central 4, Lowell 1: The Indians swept singles competition, as Luke Oboy took No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Portage 5, Lake Station 0: John Fannin won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, helping the No. 8 Indians (5-1) sweep the Eagles (1-3).

Valparaiso 5, Hobart 0: The No. 4 Vikings dropped two games en route to a sweep over the Brickies. Jared Folke (No. 2 singles), Andrew Lehnen (No. 3 singles) plus Noah Klumpe-Derek Wappel (No. 1 doubles) won their matches 6-0, 6-0.

 

Girls volleyball

River Forest 16-25-25-26, Gavit 25-15-13-24: Caylyn Bellar had 14 kills and five aces as the Ingots beat the Gladiators. Aexis Nuzzo had 30 digs, while Katie Anderson had three aces. Jessica Serrano had 14 assists, and Colleen Cary had six kills. Alyssa Yanez added six assists.

Whiting 25-25-23-25, Highland 14-18-25-23: Highland's Kara Randall had 13 kills and nine digs, but the Oilers held on for the win.

Munster 25-25-26, Homewood-Flossmoor 14-23-24: Elizabeth Kloos had nine kills for Munster (11-0), while Toni DalCarbonare added 18 digs.

Wheeler 25-23-22-25-15, Boone Grove 20-25-25-21-13: Belle Bravo had 27 assists, 19 kills, 18 digs and four aces as the Bearcats outlasted the Wolves. Jordynn Parks added 15 attack kills and four block kills.

Nicole Malouhos had 14 kills to lead Boone Grove.
