Jake Koselke homered and drove in all of Morgan Township's runs, then came on in the seventh inning to earn the save as the Cherokees edged E.C. Central 3-2 in baseball action Wednesday.

Jacob Hernandez allowed one run over six innings for the win, striking out eight, while Austin Abbett added two hits for Morgan (7-7).

Rey Colon, Ruben Flores and Darion Edmond all posted two hits for the Cardinals, with Edmond connecting on a solo home run.

Whiting 12, Lake Station 5: Jason Corral, A.J. Veloz and Andrew Navarro drove in two runs apiece in leading the Oilers past the Eagles. Matt Dvorscak went 3-for-3 and scored twice, while Ryan Veloz added two hits and three runs.

Cody Lemley socked a two-run homer for Lake Station.

Marquette 8, River Forest 6: Isaiah Papineau went 2-for-4 with two RBIs as the Blazers (5-7, 2-4) edged the Ingots (6-6-1, 3-3) in the Greater South Shore Conference. Bryce Freels and winning pitcher Steven Stachyra both were 2-for-3 with an RBI for Marquette, which overcame a 4-for-4, two-RBI performance by River Forest's Bryan Fleming.

Hebron 3, Hanover Central 2, 8 inn.: Zac Hernandez drove in all three runs, including the game-winner, with a single and a double, and claimed the win in relief as the Hawks (6-4) upended the Wildcats (13-2). Bryce Hanaway scored twice for Hebron. Jesse Wilkening homered and Dylan Knutsen had a pair of hits for Hanover.

Softball

Andrean 3, Lowell 2: Abby Graegin had two RBIs to lead the 59ers to the NCC win. She also had two hits and scored a run. Brenna Boyle struck out five to get the win and also went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Westville 6, Kouts 3: Sydney Chasko homered and drove in three runs to power the Blackhawks to a Porter County Conference victory. Chasko, MacKenzie Goodman, winning pitcher Beth Piotrowski and Rebecca Polchlopek all notched two hits for Westville.

Girls tennis

Valparaiso 5, Merrillville 0: Rachel Crookston and Rachel Willing registered 6-0, 6-0 victories at one and three singles, respectively, to pace the Vikings' Duneland Athletic Conference shutout.

Boys golf

Munster 167, Griffith 193: The Panthers (2-5, 0-3) were led by Brian Brzycki's 1-over-par 37 in the Northwest Crossroads Conference match at Centennial Park, but it was Munster's depth that prevailed. The Mustangs (4-2, 2-0) were led by Matt Specht's 37, Luke Wuchenich's 42, Kyle Wilkinson's 43 and Roshan Tilva's 44.

Highland 181, Hobart 187: At River Pointe, the Trojans were led by Taylor Peters (41) and Luke Wadkins (43) in the NCC match, while the Brickies were topped by Broyce Cosme's 43.

LaPorte 163, Merrillville 199: At Beechwood, Tyler Baker's 3-over-par 39 led the Slicers (6-0, 1-0 DAC) past the Pirates.
