Cierra Charbonneau went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, Ashlie Rossi homered, and Morton scored at least two runs in four of its six innings Wednesday to wallop Clark 12-2 and clinch the GLAC softball championship.

Angelica Justiniano (7-2) pitched a complete game and scattered six hits. Rossi added two hits and two RBIs for Morton (12-3, 6-0).

Sara Kruszynski had two hits and an RBI for the Pioneers (9-3, 4-2).

Wheeler 17, Marquette 0: A 10-run first enabled the Bearcats (13-5, 10-3) to make short work of visiting Marquette, which had five errors in this GSSC mismatch.

Hannah Rich had two hits and three RBIs for Wheeler. Alyssa Boatner drove in a pair, Nickole Finch had two hits and two RBIs, and Haley Lovison chipped in two hits.

Washington Township 11, Kouts 9: Ali Cobb singled twice, doubled and scored four runs as the Senators outlasted the Fillies in the PCC.

Maddie Johnson scored twice and knocked in two for Washington. Kouts' Emily Kolb's 4-for-4 day included a double, home run and three RBIs. She is 9-for-9 in her last two games with 3 homers, two doubles, a triple, 11 RBIs and five runs.

Westville 15, LaCrosse 7: McKenzie Gardner, Katie Piotrowski and Machaela Shrader all posted three hits as the Blackhawks prevailed in a slugfest.

Baseball

Andrean 7, Downers Grove South 7: The host 59ers overcame a 7-0 deficit and three errors to salvage a tie with the No. 7 team in Illinois.

Jim Tarala pitched five innings of shutout relief for Andrean (21-1-1) and went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Matt Desomer had two hits and three RBIs.

There were 25 hits in the game, 13 by the 59ers.

Wheeler 8, Marquette 2: Tyler Crussen doubled, tripled and drove in three runs to power the Bearcats (8-8, 7-3) to the GSSC victory.

Whiting 14, Calumet 2: The host Oilers (9-6-1, 6-2) led 10-0 after just two innings in their abbreviated GSSC rout of the Warriors.

Josh Sparks homered for Whiting and Tom Hildebranski went 2-for-2 with four RBIs. For Calumet, T.J. Thomas and Marcus Jackson had a hit each, and Jackson an RBI.

 

Girls tennis

Valparaiso 4, South Bend St. Joseph 1: Caitlin Kennedy and Rachel Willing won in straight sets at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, as the Vikings (11-1) topped the Indians.

Whiting 5, Bishop Noll 0: Singles players Grace Huss and Brianna Baez, and the doubles team of Alivia Jakubowksi and Lauren Markovich were all straight-set winners for Whiting (11-1, 7-1 GSSC) in its shutout of the Warriors (6-4, 2-3).

Boys golf

Chesterton 151, Portage 156, At Robbinhurst, medalist Brandon Martin (37) was backed by a trio of 38s as the Trojans (7-4, 4-3) edged the Indians in a DAC dual. Nick Lewis carded a 38 for Portage.
