DYER | Joe Keenan's overtime goal lifted the Illiana Blackbirds to a 3-2 victory over the Tri City Icehawks in Illiana's first game back from the Minnesota Junior Hockey League holiday break, Jan. 17 at Midwest Training and Ice Center.

But the Michigan-based Icehawks rebounded with 4-2 and 4-1 wins the following Saturday and Sunday, respectively, to take the weekend series two games to one.

In the OT victory, Nathan Aloisio had a goal and two assists, his latter assist sparked the game-winner. Sean Gruenhager had a goal and an assist, Illiana's leading scorer for the season, Chad Smith, had a pair of assists, and goalie Konstantin Shipunov stopped 27 of 29 shots for the Blackbirds.

In Saturday's game, Gruenhager and Cameron Montalvo and each scored goals, and Miller and Austin Ahlers each were credited with assists for Illiana.

Kyle Porter scored Illiana's lone goal in Sunday's loss with Ahlers assisting.

The Blackbirds are currently in second place in the eight-team Great Lakes Division, trailing the Marquette Royales.
