Portage Y offers gymnastics
PORTAGE | The Portage Twp. YMCA is offering numerous summer gymnastics programs.
Parent and tot gymnastics is for children 18 months to age 3 and an adult. Classes meet on Wednesday from 10:45-11:20 a.m.
Pre-school Scooters is for children ages 3 to 5. Classes meet on Wednesday from 11:40 a.m-12:25 p.m.
Flip, Wiggle and Roll is for pre-school children in a structured setting. Classes meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 4-4:45 p.m.
Beginners is for children age 5 and up with no prior experience. Classes meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 4:45-5:45 p.m.
Intermediate is for children age 5 and up with prior experience or ability, as determined by the instructor. Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday from 5:45-6:45 p.m.
Pre-team is for girls age 5 and up who are interested in advancing to team. It requires an instructor invitation. Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7 p.m.
Middle school call-outs will be Aug. 26. It is open to all middle school girls.

Yoga in the parks to start in July

Volleyball officials classes at Hobart High School
HOBART | The Lake County Athletic Officials Association will be sponsoring classes for persons interested in becoming IHSAA-licensed volleyball officials. Classes will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. July 6, 8 and 12 at Hobart High School. An NFHS Part I Exam will be administered on July 15. Ninth annual Tour de LaPorte Aug. 22
LAPORTE | The ninth annual Tour de LaPorte bike, walk and run event will take place Aug. 22 at the LaPorte County Fairgrounds. Cyclists can opt for routes ranging from 5 to 100 miles. Former NBA player giving guard camp at The Fieldhouse
MERRILLVILLE | Eddie Gill, who played seven years in the NBA, will host a guard camp from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday through Friday at The Fieldhouse-Merrillville. The camp will focus on the point guard position and shooting drills.
