DENG LEADS BULLS PAST PACERS: Luol Deng had 23 points and 11 rebounds, and the Bulls beat the Pacers 109-101 on Tuesday night.
Derrick Rose and John Salmons each scored 21 points for the Bulls, who had lost three of their previous four. Kirk Hinrich scored 17 points, and Brad Miller added 13 for Chicago.
Danny Granger had 27 points and 10 rebounds, Troy Murphy had 18 points and 16 rebounds and Earl Watson added 14 points and six assists for the Pacers.
Chicago shot 51 percent from the field.
Chicago center Joakim Noah was not with the team because of a left foot injury. Miller, a former Pacer, started in his place.
Indiana shot just 33 percent in the fourth quarter and blew a five-point lead.
HOF bolsters board of governors: Hall of Fame coaches Pat Riley and Jody Conradt are among seven people chosen for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's Board of Governors.
Joining Riley, the Miami Heat president who won five titles with the Los Angeles Lakers and Heat, and Conradt, who led the Texas women to an undefeated national championship in 1986, are: ESPN president George Bodenheimer; E.C. Washington grad Junior Bridgeman, CEO of Bridgeman Foods Inc. and former president of the NBA players association; NIKE Brand president Charles Denson; Tom Stultz, senior vice president and managing director of college sports for IMG; and Elaine Wynn of Wynn Resorts.
Bloom graduate Jerry Colangelo, chairman of the Naismith Hall of Fame board, also announced Tuesday the addition of six new trustees, including NBPA executive director Billy Hunter.

BLACKHAWKS EDGE STARS: Kris Versteeg scored in the fifth round of a shootout Tuesday night and the Blackhawks beat the Dallas Stars 4-3.
Patrick Kane had two first-period goals for the Blackhawks, his team-high 23rd and 24th of the season.
Dallas' Loui Eriksson tied it at 3 with 3:50 left in regulation, scoring from just outside the crease following a Chicago turnover.
College basketball
NOTRE DAME WOMEN ROLL: Lindsay Schrader scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half, when No. 4 Notre Dame built a 20-point lead with its full-court pressure and held on for a 66-50 win over Cincinnati on Tuesday.
The Irish (22-1, 9-1 Big East) have won seven consecutive games since their loss to No. 1 Connecticut on Jan. 16, a streak set up by offensive balance and unrelenting defensive pressure. Schrader led the way against Cincinnati (10-12, 3-7), shaking off a 1-for-7 first half.
Wheeler graduate Becca Bruszewski added 14 points and eight rebounds for Notre Dame.
FREE ADMISSION AT SSC GAMES: South Suburban College will hold a Community Night for its men's basketball home game against Blackhawk East College at 7 p.m. Thursday. Free admission will be offered to SSC District 510 and Lake County Ind. residents, businesses and their employees.
SSC also will hold a Kids Day for its women's and men's basketball home games against Carl Sandburg College on Saturday. Free admission will be offered to ages 16 and under. The women's game starts at 1 p.m.; the men's game starts at 3 p.m. The Chi-Town Finest Breakers, a youth breakdancing group, will perform during Kids Day.

LOCALS ADVANCE IN THREE EVENTS: Three local swimmers and one relay team received a call down for Friday's preliminary round of the IHSAA state swimming championships.
Chesterton freshman Kate Curley received a berth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.52). Lowell senior Sumaiyah Ahmad (1:08.39) and Highland sophomore Lindsey Stockton (1:09.01) earned berths in the 100 breast.
Valparaiso's 200 free relay team (1:41.26) also received an at-large spot.

The Lew Wallace boys basketball team rounded out its season schedule adding a home game against Chicago Orr at 7:30 p.m. Friday. ... St. Xavier University women's basketball player Alex Barone (Marian Catholic) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week. ... The Purdue Calumet women's basketball team received a verbal commitment from Mishawaka's Madison Gervais, a 5-foot-10 forward. As a junior, she was named honorable mention All-State by Hoosier Basketball Magazine. ... IU Northwest women's basketball player Sharon Houston (Merrillville) has been named the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Player of the Week, as well as the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Player of the Week, after averaging 31 points, 21 rebounds and five blocks during two games for the week of Feb. 1-7. ...
