Knights of Columbus crown district winners

PORTAGE | Eight youths won Knights of Columbus district free throw titles at a competition hosted by Nativity of Our Savior Council No. 9114 on Feb. 14 at Portage High School.

Girls winners were Megan Jones (age 12, Crown Point, 15-of-25 free throws made), Mackenzie Jones (13, Valparaiso, 14-25) and Samantha Angel (14, Crown Point, 3-25). Boys winners were Timothy Angel (10, Crown Point, 17-25), Blake Maris (11, Crown Point, 19-25), Timothy Cahillane (12, Portage, 17-25, 4-5 tiebreaker), Mitchell Gerlach (13, Crown Point, 19-25) and Vinny Bonaventura (14, Crown Point, 14-25). They will advance to regional competition at 10 a.m. Sunday at Portage High School.

Lake Central holding softball camp, pitching/catching clinic

Hunter Education Safety Course at Lemon Lake

CEDAR LAKE | The Hunter Education Safety Course will take place from 6-9 p.m. March 12 and from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. March 13 at Lemon Lake County Park, 6322 W. 133rd Ave., Cedar Lake. All hunters born after 1986 are required to attend both sessions and pass a written test. Those who pass the test will receive a certified hunter's education card that is good for life. Adult softball leagues forming in Crown Point

CROWN POINT | The Crown Point Parks Department Adult Softball Leagues are reserving spots for the 2010 season. The Men's League, which consists of "C" (Wednesday), "D" (Thursday) and "E" (Tuesday) divisions, costs $575 per team. The Coed League, which plays on Sunday nights, costs $460 per team. The Women's League, which plays on Monday nights, costs $460 per team. Deadline to register for all leagues is March 15. Teams must pay full amount or deposit $100 to secure a position. All fees must be paid in full by May 1.
