Hammond native Amy Yuratovac has secured another chance to fight for a professional boxing title.
Yuratovac, a 26-year-old Clark graduate, is scheduled to face South Bend native Eva Jones-Young, 45, for the vacant NABC junior welterweight title Nov. 24 at Pepsi Coliseum in Indianapolis. The contract for the bout was signed Wednesday, said Dennis Hardesty, Yuratovac's trainer.
"She's a good fighter," Yuratovac said of Jones-Young. "She's quick. She's got some good moves and everything, but I'm definitely not going in there to lose to her. I'm confident that I'm gonna beat her, but I'm gonna have to work for it. I respect her for sure."
In May, Yuratovac (6-3, six knockouts) had a shot at capturing the WBA and WBC world welterweight titles, but she fell short, losing by a unanimous decision to Cecilia Braekhus (13-0, two KOs) in Helsinki, Finland.
Jones-Young (15-4-1, five KOs) will be back in action for the first time since March, when she lost by a unanimous decision to Cedar Lake native Kristy Follmar (16-2, nine KOs) with the WBF light welterweight title on the line.
"She's one of the oldest but also one of the best," Hardesty said of Jones-Young. "You cannot take her lightly. She's a three-time world champion. She's been in close fights. She always has a few tricks up her sleeve, but I think we'll have a little more."
Yuratovac hasn't fought in the U.S. since October 2007. Her two most recent fights -- both of which have been for titles -- were in Europe and Mexico. She's 6-1 while fighting in the U.S., and she's undefeated in Indiana.
