CROWN POINT | Brittney Blazich had a busy week in Northwest Indiana.
In between catching a movie, playing some competitive bean bag games at the hotel and winning the base running competition at The Steel Yard on Sunday, Blazich still managed to take care of business on the field with her Wisconsin Lightning Black teammates.
Staying undefeated the Lightning Black (9-0) won the 14-and-under National Softball Association "B" World Series Championship 6-4 on Friday by beating the HSE Fishers Cats.
"The whole week was a lot of fun," Blazich said. "We got to hang out with each other and win a lot of games. We all love playing with each other and it always more fun when you win."
Lightning Black led 6-0 before the Cats scored four times in their final at-bat.
"We just couldn't put the nail in the coffin there at the end," Lightning Black coach Ty Webster said. "(HSE Fishers) did the same thing the first time we faced them. They never wanted to give up."
Webster was thrilled with his team's victory along with a well-spent week in Northwest Indiana.
"We had a great time in the area," Webster said. "The hotels were nice, plenty of entertainment and we played some great softball."
