Silva and English qualify for Youth Olympic Games
Taekwondo competitors Michelle Silva and Gregory English, both from Chicago, qualified for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games by way of their performances at the Qualification Tournament held March 3-5 in Tijuana, Mexico. The Youth Olympic Games will take place Aug. 14-16 in Singapore.
Silva qualified in the female over-63kg division; English qualified in the male under-48kg division. Both train at Champion Taekwondo Institute, which has schools in Chicago and Hammond.
