CROWN POINT | With all of the pressure on, hurler Ariel Dailey of the Central Kentucky Batcats won two straight championship games to win the 2009 B North NSA Fastpitch World Series in the 10U division.
After a couple successful bracket wins earlier in the day, Batcats coach Brent Aldridge opted to keep Dailey on the mound against the Wabash Valley Sharks. In the first game, the right-hander allowed three hits in a 4-1 win.
With a potent offense behind her in the second game, Dailey stayed fluid on the mound, and the Batcats beat the Sharks 12-3 in three innings as Dailey fanned four hitters and surrendered one hit.
"This feels very exciting, because I'm the first girl from Paris (Ky.) to win the World Series," Dailey said.
Even though his team didn't win, Sharks coach Brady Scott was impressed with the tournament and its host.
"It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our kids," he said. "I thought Crown Point, the whole area, was a first class act."
The Batcats finished their season 67-8, while the Sharks, from Terre Haute, finished 50-12.
