BULLS WIN; GM WON'T RESPOND TO DEL NEGRO REPORTS: Bulls general manager Gar Forman said Tuesday night he won't discuss reports that coach Vinny Del Negro's job is in jeopardy or go into detail about internal evaluations of staff, players or coaches.
Forman made his comments after an ESPN report late Sunday said the Bulls had decided to eventually fire Del Negro, who is in his second season.
"Vinny is our coach. Our goal is to get better each and every day," Forman said, adding that everyone, including fans, is disappointed by the 12-17 start, which included Tuesday's 104-95 win over the Pacers.
Derrick Rose had 28 points and six assists in the win. The Pacers dropped to 9-21.

MOORE LEADS PURDUE PAST IOWA: E.C. Central grad E'Twaun Moore scored 21 points, 15 in the second half, and No. 4 Purdue overcame a sluggish start to beat Iowa 67-56 on Tuesday night for its best start in 16 seasons.
Valparaiso High grad Robbie Hummel added 16 points and eight rebounds for the Boilermakers (12-0, 1-0 Big Ten), who have opened with 12 straight wins for the second time. Roosevelt grad Glenn Robinson led Purdue to a school-record 14-0 start in 1993-94.
"It's always tough to play in an environment like this," Hummel said. "We were lucky to just play well enough to win."
Purdue trailed by one point at halftime and led 40-36 midway through the second half. But Moore keyed a 13-2 run with three straight baskets, helping the Boilermakers push their lead to 53-38 with 8:41 left.
Aaron Fuller had a season-high 15 points for Iowa (5-8, 0-1), which put a scare into the Boilermakers before their New Year's Day showdown with No. 6 West Virginia. Purdue eventually wore down the inexperienced Hawkeyes, who had won two straight.

Barlow's layup as time expired in the first half highlighted a 13-0 run by the Fighting Irish that turned a tight game into a blowout, smothering the Knights with a full-court press that forced 36 turnovers. Notre Dame extended the second-best start in the program's 33-year history.
