Hessville Little League seeks to fill positions

HAMMOND | Hessville Little League is in search of a few volunteer board members. Ideal candidates should be outgoing, self-motivated and great communicators. The positions include Sponsor Chairman, whose duties include securing sponsors in the name of the league, keeping an accurate record of sponsor contracts and amount donatated to the league, being a liaison officer between sponsors and Board of Directors, and create and submit a sponsor budget for ensuing year for board approval; and Coaching Coordinator, whose duties include representing coaches/managers in the league, gain support and funds necessary to implement at league-wide training program, order and distribute training materials, coordinate mini-clinics as necessary, serve as the contact person for Little League International and its manager-coach education program for Hessville Little League, and create and submit a training budget for the ensuing year for board approval.

Softball Hatch Class to be held at Merrillville High School

MERRILLVILLE | Individuals interested in becoming licensed IHSAA officials in softball are encouraged to sign up for a free class put on by the Lake County Athletic Officials Association. The four classes will be held at Merrillville High School at 7 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, March 8 and March 10. The Softball Hatch Exam (IHSAA Rules Exam) will be on March 10. No one will be allowed to take the exam without taking the class. Though the class is free, a $45 licensing fee for the IHSAA is necessary. Steel City Youth Baseball holding signups

Hunter Education Safety Course at Lemon Lake

CEDAR LAKE | The Hunter Education Safety Course will take place from 6-9 p.m. March 12 and from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. March 13 at Lemon Lake County Park, 6322 W. 133rd Ave., Cedar Lake. Northwest Indiana Flag Football League call-out

PORTAGE | The outdoor spring session of the Northwest Indiana Flag Football League will start March 28. Team fee is $450 plus a once-a-year USFTL fee of $25. There will be eight games plus playoffs. Adult softball leagues forming in Crown Point

CROWN POINT | The Crown Point Parks Department Adult Softball Leagues are reserving spots for the 2010 season. The Men's League, which consists of "C" (Wednesday), "D" (Thursday) and "E" (Tuesday) divisions, costs $575 per team. The Coed League, which plays on Sunday nights, costs $460 per team. The Women's League, which plays on Monday nights, costs $460 per team. Deadline to register for all leagues is March 15. Teams must pay full amount or deposit $100 to secure a position. All fees must be paid in full by May 1.
