Dedrick Dewalt was a star wide receiver at Boston College, then later played NFL football for Tennessee and St. Louis.

The 1997 Chicago Simeon graduate now is moving to Hammond, where he will take over the Hammond High football program next school year. He places Robert Robinson Jr., who was not retained after last year's 6-5 season.

"I want the people of Hammond to know that we are an academic school first," Dewalt said. "My goal is to get as many of our kids into college as possible. I want the kids to know that Hammond High is now the place to be."
