Adrenaline MMA, which has held three fight cards in just over a year, is likely to hold its next event on Sept. 18 in the Omaha, Neb., area, The Times learned Tuesday.

Adrenaline's CEO is MMA super-agent and promoter Monte Cox.

According to a source close to Adrenaline, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the Adrenaline IV card is likely to feature Omaha natives Houston Alexander and Jeremy Horn, plus former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia.

While a venue for the event is not yet official, it is likely that the card would take place at the Mid-America Center just across the Missouri River from Omaha in Coucil Bluffs, Iowa. The arena is the home of the American Professional Football League's Iowa Blackhawks and the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League. The venue seats approximately 9,000 fans at full capacity and regularly plays host to the Victory Fighting Championships.

Alexander has lost three straight fights in the UFC and is approaching one year since his last fight in the organization. He was last scheduled to fight at UFC 98 in May, but had to pull out of a bout with Andre Gusmao less than a month before the card with a broken hand.

While Alexander is still under contract with the UFC, the organization has yet to find a fight for him after his injury. While it is not typical for the UFC to let its fighters take bouts for promotions outside the company, exceptions are sometimes made, as apparently will be the case with Alexander should he fight on the Adrenaline card.

Horn, with over 100 professional fights and a record of 81-19-5, is one of the most experienced fighters in MMA history. He is a veteran of the UFC and twice fought for titles in the promotion. He lost a light heavyweight title fight to Chuck Liddell at UFC 54 and a middleweight title fight to Frank Shamrock at UFC 17. He last fought at Adrenaline III on June 13, the promotion's last event, in Birmingham, Ala., beating Chris Davis with a first-round rear-naked choke.

Alexander and Horn both also are veterans of Cox's other Midwest-based promotion, Extreme Challenge.

Sylvia last fought, now already infamously, against 48-year-old boxer Ray Mercer in an MMA match at Adrenaline III and was knocked out in nine seconds.

Adrenaline I took place in Hoffman Estates, Ill., on June 14, 2008, and featured a main-event win by Mike Russow, who will make his UFC debut at UFC 102 on Aug. 29 in Portland, over Jason Guida, brother of UFC lightweight star Clay Guida.

Adrenaline II was Dec. 11, 2008, in Moline, Ill., and featured the return of MMA legend Pat Miletich after a more than two-year layoff.

If the Sept. 18 date sticks, it will be a busy four days of mixed martial arts in the Midwest. UFC Fight Night 19 takes place in Oklahoma City on Sept. 16. UFC 103 is in Dallas on Sept. 19.
