MEDARYVILLE | Veteran racer Jesse Bitterling has won his fair share of races at Shadyhill Speedway over the years.
The former-three time track champion from Star City did it again Saturday night as he captured the 20-lap feature race for DIRTcar United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) modified stocks cars at the quarter-mile dirt oval.
Second in the division standings, Bitterling guided his open-wheel stock car to his second checkered flag in 2012 over current points leader, Wheatfield’s Tom Bell. Rounding out the top five in the 18-car starting field were Brad DeYoung, division rookie Josh Hesson and Richie Dawson of St. John.
Racking up his third straight I-Mod class feature win, Tim Sullivan of Knox claimed top honors in the night’s 20 lapper ahead of Rich Gynn and DeYoung, who again was doing “double duty” during the night’s racing action. Larry Rearden and Bob Fortner completed the top five.
For the fourth time this season, Jerrad Krick of Earl Park was the winner of the 20-lap headliner for UMP Stock Cars. Travis Wolford and Michael Spencer chased Krick to the finish line. Posting his fourth feature win in a row, Brian Clemans bested Chris Joseph and Keith Crissinger in the Pure Street class 15-lap main event. Young drivers competed in the Teen 4s competition with Joey Iliff winning the 15-lap feature race over Jace Owens and Bobby Glenn. It was Iliff’s third win of the year.
Illiana Motor Speedway: An early afternoon rain storm and the threat of more to come forced officials to postpone the 12th annual Elmer Musgrave Memorial presented by Texas Corral Grill & Saloon. Twin 56-lap features were to highlight the night’s racing.
