Adult Inline Hockey League at Camelot

PORTAGE | Camelot Sportsplex, located within Camelot Bowl, is accepting individual and full team registration for its Adult Inline Hockey League. Cost is $85 per player. Popcorn Panic training starts Tuesday

VALPARAISO | The YMCA Popcorn Panic Team will train runners for the September race, beginning Tuesday. Training will be at 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 7:30 a.m. Saturdays until Sept. 9. A mandatory meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Monday at the YMCA conference room. Registration requires a $25 fee plus a commitment to raise an additional $125 for the Valpo YMCA and Opportunity Enterprises.

Munster resident Brian Cummings will be inducted into the Disc Golf Hall of Fame during the tournament.

Football officiating training classes offered

MUNSTER | The Lake County Athletic Officials Association will be holding classes for persons interested in becoming licensed Indiana High School football officials. Classes will be held at the Munster Town Hall from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. At the conclusion of the class, an exam necessary for licensing will be given. There is no fee for the class, but a fee and application is required for licensing with the IHSAA. Ninth annual Tour de LaPorte Aug. 22

LAPORTE | The ninth annual Tour de LaPorte bike, walk and run event will take place Aug. 22 at the LaPorte County Fairgrounds. Cyclists can opt for routes ranging from 5 to 100 miles. Walkers and runners can complete a 5K route. Open registration runs from 6 to 7:30 a.m. The 5K shotgun start is at 8. Breakfast will be served until 10 a.m. Lunch is available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bike race fees are $25 for adults by Aug. 6, $30 after; $10 for children ages 5-12. Costs for the run or walk are $20 for adults by Aug. 6, $25 after; $10 for children ages 5-12. Proceeds help The LaPorte Hospital Foundation's work with local cancer patients. LaPorte Triathlon takes place Aug. 7

LAPORTE | The LaPorte YMCA Triathlon will start at 6 a.m. Aug. 7 at Soldiers Memorial Park. The race includes a quarter-mile swim, 12.4-mile bike ride and 3.4-mile run. Entry fee is $55 by July 25, $65 after. Team fees are $90 by July 25, $100 after. Entry deadline is Aug. 4. Hospice Hustle bike ride set for Sept. 26

CROWN POINT | Registration is open for the Hospice Hustle, a non-competitive bike ride to benefit Hospice of the Calumet Area. Participants may select one of two routes, traveling 25 or 62 miles through southern Lake County. Both routes begin and end at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point. Cyclists may check in starting at 7 a.m. Sept. 26. Riding begins from 8 t0 10 a.m.

Entry fee is $25, $30 the day of the event. Cyclists are encouraged to solicit pledges for each mile ridden. Registration brochures may be downloaded at www.hospicecalumet.org.

Portage Y offers gymnastics

PORTAGE | The Portage Twp. YMCA is offering numerous summer gymnastics programs.

Parent and tot gymnastics is for children 18 months to age 3 and an adult. Classes meet from 10:45 to 11:20 a.m. on Wednesdays.

Pre-school Scooters is for children ages 3 to 5. Classes meet from 11:40 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Flip, Wiggle and Roll is for pre-school children in a structured setting. Classes meet from 4 to 4:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Beginners is for children age 5 and up with no prior experience. Classes meet from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Intermediate is for children age 5 and up with prior experience or ability, as determined by the instructor. Classes meet from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Pre-team is for girls age 5 and up who are interested in advancing to team. It requires an instructor invitation. Classes meet from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Middle school call-outs will be Aug. 26. It is open to all middle school girls.
