HAMMOND | It usually doesn't take the Chiefs long to figure out how to score first against their opponent.

This time it took them three innings, but they eventually hung a couple multi-run frames on their younger Hammond cohorts, the Seminoles, in Monday night's 11-1 six-inning victory.

The Chiefs (13-5) continue to see strong offensive play from a pair of Bishop Noll Warriors in shortstop Kody Alayon and catcher Cody Moskovsky, as Alayon smacked a two-run triple and Moskovsky smashed a two-run homer over the left field fence to highlight the five-run third.

"I was just trying to do a job and get him (previous batter Danny DeBoer) over," said Moskovsky. "I wasn't expecting a homer."

Not to be outdone, Chad Mateja -- also from Bishop Noll -- notched the victory, throwing three innings of one-hit ball while striking out three.

"They all come from a quality program at Noll," Chiefs manager Dave Sutkowski said. "(Danny Poberyko) and Kody have been in the program for three years now and we were lucky to get the others this year. (Bishop Noll coach) Paul (Wirtz) does a good job over there."

A player from another heralded program, Munster's Chris Slivka, continued his hot hitting in the heart of the order by going 2-for-4 with a single, double, two runs, and an RBI.

Sutkowski says he has no drastic plans for Slivka in the future.

"We're gonna keep him right there (No. 4) because he's an anchor in the lineup," he said.

The Seminoles (7-7) scored their only run in the top of the sixth after pinch hitter Jalen Yarborough knocked in Kyle Buikema on an RBI single.
