HAMMOND | When Bulldog starter Logan Ryan was greeted by Quincy, Mass. lead-off hitter Curtis Frazier with a home run over the right-field fence, it was an indication of things to come ... that Frazier was going to be a tough out.

Indeed, Frazier was as he went 3-for-3 with a double and a single -- a triple away from hitting for the cycle.

But they were the only hits Quincy were able to produce against Ryan and reliever Marek Bauner, who helped lead the Bulldogs to an 8-1 win in their first WS pool play game Saturday.

Ryan proceeded to strike out the next three Quincy hitters after Frazier homered and ended up fanning 10 in four innings.

Ken Michaeals had a pair of doubles, two RBIs and stole home; and Nick Geisen had two hits and two RBIs for the Bulldogs, who will play El Dorado, Ark. 5:30 p.m. today.

Quincy's next game is 8 p.m. Monday, also against El Dorado.
